OMGI and Deutsche Bank have announced promotions, while Ashburton Investments and Elian have made senior appointments. After departing The Investment Association, former chief executive Daniel Godfrey has joined the advisory board of a fintech startup.

Old Mutual Global Investors

Delphine Arrighi has been promoted to co-manager of Old Mutual Global Investors’ $114.9m (£79.5m, €106m) Old Mutual Local Currency Emerging Market Debt Fund.

She will also become co-manager of the $173.2m Old Mutual Emerging Market Debt Fund, which is set to be insourced from Stone Harbour Investment Partners LP to OMGI on 21 January 2016.

Arrighi, who joined OMGI in September 2015 from Threadneedle Investments, will co-manage the funds with OMGI’s head of emerging market debt, John Peta.

Deutsche Bank

Deutsche Bank has named Rafik Nayed as chief country officer for the United Arab Emirates and senior executive officer of Deutsche Bank AG Dubai (DIFC) branch. Effective immediately, Nayed takes over from Nadeem Masud who left Deutsche Bank at the end of 2015 to pursue opportunities outside the banking industry.

With over 23 years’ experience in the financial services industry, Nayed joined Deutsche Bank in 2013 as vice chairman of the MENA region. Before joining Deutsche Bank, he was interim chief executive of the Libyan Investment Authority and prior to that he worked for many years in the oil and gas and financial services industries in a variety of senior positions.

In addition to his new role, Nayed will continue to serve as vice chairman of Deutsche Bank MENA.

Ashburton Investments

Ashburton Investments has strengthened its London-based multi asset team with the appointment of Marianna Georgakopoulou as multi asset strategist.

Having joined Ashburton Investments in November, she is looking to take advantage of opportunities in both developed and emerging markets on a cross asset basis. 

Prior to Ashburton, Georgakopoulou worked at Pivot Capital Management (Monaco) investing under a global macro mandate and before that at Tenax Capital, investing in global financials across the capital structure with a sovereign overlay.  

Mercer

Mercer has announced the appointment of Martyn Phillips as a partner in its UK Bulk Pensions Insurance Advisory Group. Phillips will focus on larger transactions, as well as on developing the Mercer Pension Risk Exchange.

Having also held roles at LCP, Prudential, Bacon & Woodrow, and Towers Perrin; Phillips joins Mercer from JLT where he was head of buyouts since 2012.
