PEOPLE MOVES: Novia, Raffles Family Office, HSBC

Platform recruits international sales manager, as family office hires from Schroders

Novia Global 

Rob Montague has been named international sales manager at Novia Global, focusing on business development. 

Montague was previously a wealth management consultant at Old Mutual Wealth where he spent nearly 20 years.  

Raffles Family Office

The Hong Kong-based family office has recruited Simon Lints as strategic adviser, a newly created role.

He will work from Singapore and be responsible for driving the firm’s expansion and business development in Asia, with greater focus in the southeast part of the region.

Lints was chief executive of wealth management Singapore at Schroders.

HSBC Private Bank 

Sharon Oh will become chief operating officer for Asia Pacific, effective from 20 May 2020. 

She will be responsible for developing a core banking platform and enhance the firm’s digital offering. 

Oh replaces Gaurav Rao and joins from JP Morgan where she was chief of staff within the global institutional client unit in London. 

Simply Biz

The provider of compliance and business support to financial advisers has promoted Kyle Augustin to chief operating officer, effective immediately.

He joined the group in 2019 in an advisory role and will now lead the firm’s digital and data transformation.

Before joining the company, Augustin was chief information technology officer at investment firm Downing.

J Safra Sarasin 

The boutique private bank has hired Yann Mocellin as an executive director in Singapore.  

He previously worked as an independent family office adviser at Swiss firm My Advisors. 

Waverton IM 

Investment management firm Waverton has expanded its private client team with a senior hire. 

Harry Cotton has been recruited as a business development manager. 

He spent the last three years at Coutts where he managed relationships with professional partners and entrepreneurs. 

Ascot Lloyd 

The UK-based financial advisory firm named David Melloy as business development manager. 

In the newly created role, he will be responsible for driving organic growth for the company. 

Melloy joins from Close Brothers Asset Management where he served as a business development director. 

Sanne 

Stephanie Hopkins has been promoted to country head of the firm’s Jersey office.  

Additionally, Christopher Thoume has been hired as director of product development in the London office. 

Hopkins was previously head of private debt and capital markets and has been at Sanne since 2012; while Thoume was chief of staff to KPMG’s global head of fintech and chief operating officer of the UK blockchain and digital assets division. 

Ogier 

The international legal services provider has recruited Erica Wong as a managing associate in its Hong Kong office. 

Wong will work in the banking and finance team.  

She has nearly a decade of experience and was most recently a senior associate at Allen & Overy in Hong Kong, where she specialised in cross-border banking transactions.  

Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) 

The financial regulator in Singapore has named Celine Sia as assistant managing director. 

She will oversee the economic analysis department, economic surveillance & forecasting department, and a newly-formed enterprise knowledge department focusing on data management.
