PEOPLE MOVES: Manx Financial Group, Sun Life, Sanne

Isle of Man-based firm makes management reshuffle, while insurer names Vietnam CEO

Manx Financial Group

The Isle of Man-based offshore finance group has promoted Douglas Grant to group chief executive.

He has been at the firm since 2008 when he started working as group finance director, and will retain his responsibilities as managing director of Manx Financial Group subsidiary Conister Bank.

Grant succeeds Denham Eke, who will become executive vice chairman of the group and remain a non-executive director of the firm’s principal subsidiaries, Conister Bank, IFA firm Edgewater Associates and Manx FX.

James Seed has been promoted to executive director of the group and group finance director, succeeding Grant, and remains finance director of the bank.

Gregory Jones has been named as independent non-executive director of the group and bank, and a member of the group audit, risk and compliance committee.

John Spellman, non-executive director of the group and the bank, has taken on a similar role at Edgewater, replacing Robert Frize.

Haseeb Qureshi has also been promoted to managing director of the bank, after serving as chief operating officer from 2017 and as executive director since 2019. He joined the firm in 2016 from KPMG.

Sun Life

The international insurance provider has hired Luc Nhon Ly as chief executive of Sun Life Vietnam.

He will succeed Larry Madge, who is set to return to the firm’s corporate offices in Toronto.

Nhon Ly joins from AIA, where he held a similar position for the company’s Myanmar arm.

Barclays Private Bank

The private bank has strengthened its Asia presence with three senior hires.

Ken Sze has been promoted to head of investments for Asia, in Singapore. He has relocated from London, where he served as global head of the funds and ETF business at Barclays Private Bank Global Investments for the past three years.

Adrian Khoo has become head of strategic client coverage in Singapore. He joins from Julius Baer & Co in the Lion City. where he was a senior relationship manager for south east Asia.

Jaime Huang has been hired as a private banker in Singapore to focus on developing and growing the business in the region.

Sanne

The global provider of alternative asset and corporate business services has named Alan Keet as head of Sanne South Africa, based in Cape Town.

He was chief executive of Akwa Business and Consulting Solutions since April 2017.

KMPG

Shelley Doorey-Williams and Dean Brown have joined KPMG’s wealth and asset management practice as associate partner and partner, respectively.

Doorey-Williams was previously head of wealth planning for UK and Jersey at UBS, while Brown served as a partner at EY’s wealth and asset management technology division.

PraxisIFM

The global financial services business has appointed Carsten Cramer and Daniel Reynolds as managing directors.

Cramer will head up the Netherlands offices, replacing Reynolds who will lead the firm’s Jersey office.

Reynolds succeeds Richard Kearsey, who will retire at the end of November after 21 years at the group.

Kingsley Napley

Matt Spencer has joined the law firm as a partner to help set up the newly formed tax practice.

He was previously at DAC Beachcroft, where he worked for the last nine years.

Pimfa

Geoff Towers has taken on a non- executive directorship at the trade body.

He brings over 35 years’ experience in the wealth management and investment services industry, including leadership roles at Citibank, Barclays Wealth, Legal & General and Friends Life.

Most recently he was chief executive of BNY Mellon’s Pershing  for almost six years until June 2021.

Cura

UK-based protection advice firm Cura named Lee Robertson as a non-executive director.

He is currently the chief executive and founder of financial services private social network Octo Members.
