PEOPLE MOVES: Manulife, BNP Paribas AM, Coutts

Insurance firm makes four c-suite changes in Hong Kong, as asset manager hires head of Apac

Manulife

The insurance giant has made four c-suite changes to its Hong Kong operation.

The promotions are:

  • Anthony Buchanan, chief information officer;
  • Carrie Tong, chief strategy officer;
  • Donna Kirmani, chief human resources officer; and
  • Edgar Chan, chief operations officer.

Buchanan was previously the head of operations and IT performance for Manulife Asia.

Tong was formely head of Asia strategy at Manulife.

Kirmani joined Manulife in 2016 to lead the executive recruitment for the wealth and asset management business in Asia.

She was later promoted to the position of human resources business partner of the Asia segment office.

Previously, Chan was assistant vice president, experience owner of search and buy at Manulife.

BNP Paribas Asset Management

The investment firm has named Steven Billiet as its head of Asia Pacific.

Billiet joined BNPP AM earlier this year as the firm’s head of distribution for Asia-Pacific and will retain his regional distribution responsibilities in addition to his new role.

He will replace Ligia Torres, who is retiring from the firm and will return to Europe.

Torres has been with BNP Paribas Group for 23 years.

She became Asia chief in 2016 after joining BNPP AM in 2013 to head up the development of the firm’s emerging market business.

Prior to that, she was BNP Paribas Wealth Management’s UK regional chief executive.

Coutts

The private bank has named Adam Brownlee as executive director and wealth manager within the Coutts Private Office.

Brownlee joins from LGT Vestra, where he was a senior wealth manager.

Raffles Family Office

The independent asset manager and multi-family office has hired Ivanny Djayaputra as executive director, according to the firm’s Linkedin profile.

Singapore-based Djayaputra was most recently first vice president at United Overseas Bank.

Hawksmoor Investment Management

Jess de Alwis has joined the UK firm as head of compliance.

She joins Hawksmoor from Investec Wealth and Investment UK, where she was director of Compliance for more than six years.

De Alwis will succeed Michael Knight, who is retiring after six years in the role.

He will continue to serve on the Hawksmoor board as company secretary.

Federated Hermes

Amélie Thévenet and Jordan Patel will join the firm’s London office in September and July, respectively.

Thévenet will be a director with a view to becoming co-portfolio manager on the Federated Hermes Impact Opportunities Fund, subject to internal approvals.

She joins from Jupiter Asset Management, where she spent 13 years of her career, most recently as global emerging markets (GEMs) equities fund manager.

Patel will become senior analyst and joins from Titan Capital Management, where he was an equities analyst for three years.

Charles Stanley

Independent non-executive director Bridget Guerin has resigned from company.

The resignation will take effect on 30th September 2020.

The wealth manager has appointed Anna Troup as an independent non-executive director, effective 1 October 2020.

Troup was formerly head of UK bespoke solutions at Legal and General Investment Management.
