Lombard Odier

Annika Falkengren and Denis Pittet are to be appointed managing partners of the Lombard Odier Group. The announcement follows the decision by Anne-Marie de Weck to retire as managing partner on 31 December 2016, after 20 years with the firm.

Falkengren, currently president and chief executive of SEB, will join the firm in July 2017 and be based in Geneva. She joined SEB in 1987, becoming president and chief executive in 2005.

Pittet will be promoted to managing partner in January 2017. He joined the group in 1993 as a trained lawyer and was group legal counsel, before joining the private clients unit in 2015. There he took over the responsibility for the independent asset managers’ department and led the expansion of wealth planning services in the areas of family governance and philanthropy. He became a group limited partner in 2007.

J O Hambro Capital Management

After eight years with J O Hambro Capital Management (JOHCM), former group chief executive Gavin Rochussen has resigned from the BT Investment Management group to pursue another opportunity in the UK asset management industry.

Rochussen’s resignation is effective immediately, and he will be on ‘gardening leave’ during his six-month notice period. He has agreed to a five-year non-solicit period of JOHCM investment staff inclusive of his notice period. There are no changes to the structure of any of the JOHCM investment teams and their investment autonomy is unaffected by Rochussen’s departure.

Brewin Dolphin

Brewin Dolphin, one of the UK’s largest private client wealth managers, has appointed Godfrey Cromwell as a divisional director in the London office. He will be responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships, advising on strategic initiatives and supporting the development of our emerging talent.

Cromwell joins from Barclays Wealth where he was a private banker for eight years. With a background in developing UK and international businesses, he will maintain his role as the chief executive of the British East-West Centre. He will also maintain his role as a cross-bench (independent) peer in the House of Lords.

Boston Multi Family Office

Boston Multi Family Office has announced the appointment of Maltese trust lawyer Andrew Chetcuti Ganado as managing director of its Malta operations. Ganado takes over from outgoing managing director Chris Borg, who is moving to a new role at Deloitte Malta.

He brings significant experience in both leadership and the hands-on provision of trust and fiduciary services to the Boston group of companies.

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM)

LGIM has expanded its team servicing wealth management clients with the appointment of Matthew Kemp as senior investment sales manager for London. He will support and build LGIM’s relationships with London-based wealth managers, stockbrokers and fund-of-fund clients.

Kemp joins LGIM from Ashburton Investments where he was head of UK Wholesale Distribution. He was previously a partner at Smith & Williamson for six years, and prior to that, an investment director at Standard Life Investments where he was responsible for building relationships with banks and global distributors.

Waverton Investment Management

Waverton Investment Management has confirmed the appointment of Mark Harrison as chief operating officer with immediate effect. Harrison has over 30 years’ experience of the financial services industry in executive management, consultancy and advisory roles, specialising in IT, operations and change management.

His first role was at Andersen Consulting and he has subsequently held senior executive positions at PwC, BNP Paribas, JP Morgan Cazenove, AMP and EFG Bank. In an advisory capacity, he has also worked for The Bank of England, QIC (Australia) and Hermes.

Lockton

Lockton, the privately owned insurance broker, is building out its international employee benefits hub with the hire of Tom Laidler, who joins as senior consultant in the London-based team.

The new addition to the team follows the recent appointment of Mike Tyler to lead the practice, and is a further indication of Lockton’s intention to build international benefits consulting capability around the globe to complement the established teams in the US.

BMO Global Asset Management

BMO Global Asset Management’s Responsible Investment Advisory Council (RIAC) has appointed Marga Hoek to the council with immediate effect. The council consists of five highly regarded experts in their fields who bring international experience across responsible investment, environmental, social and ethical issues.
