Phoebe Stone becomes chief sustainability officer

LGT Wealth Management

Phoebe Stone has been promoted to the newly-created role of chief sustainability officer to drive a more “interconnected approach” in reaching the firm’s target of being net-zero across its own investments and operations by 2030.

Stone joined the firm in 2014 as portfolio manager and was promoted to head of sustainable investing in 2018. She also became head of intermediary investment services in 2022, alongside the head of sustainability role.

Over the past six years she has built and run LGT Wealth Management’s sustainable investing client proposition, dedicated sustainable investment team, ESG integration and stewardship proposition.  

Jupiter Asset Management

The firm has confirmed the Jupiter Global Value Equity Unit Trust will be managed by Brian McCormick and Alex Savvides.

The firm had previously said it was considering whether to sub-delegate the fund to previous manager Ben Whitmore’s value equities boutique, Brickwood Asset Management.

Whitmore had managed the fund alongside Dermot Murphy, who will also leave Jupiter for Brickwood, since launch in 2018.

MSCI

The company has hired Goldman Sachs’ Luke Flemmer as head of private assets, where he will build out the product development process.

Flemmer brings over 20 years of experience to the role. He began at Goldman Sachs in 2020, and worked as managing director and head of digital strategy for alternative investments in the asset management division.

Previously, he was a co-founder and CEO of Lab49, which provided investment and risk technology and was acquired by ION Group in 2015.

In his new role, he will report to MSCI’s chief product officer, Alvise Munari.

Asset Risk Consultants

The business has appointed Dr James Cooke as deputy CIO.

He returns to the firm after five years at Ashburton Jersey Limited, where he was head of global equity and director of investments.

In the new role, Cooke will work closely with ARC CIO Grant Wilson to expand the CIO function, focusing on enhancing portfolio strategies, improving risk management processes and driving innovation in investment solutions.

Lombard Odier

The firm has hired Mark Goddard as its UK CEO, who joins the firm after almost 20 years at UBS.

Goddard will oversee the firm’s London office for the bank’s private client division, reporting to Duncan MacIntyre, limited partner and UK region head and Stephane Herrmann, CEO of Lombard Odier (Europe) S.A.

During his time at UBS, Goddard held numerous roles over a two-decade period. Most recently, he was the firm’s head of UK high net-worth wealth, covering London and UK regions.

Chikara Investments

The firm has hired Theo Wyld as an analyst on the Japanese equities team.

He joins from Ruffer, where he co-managed of the Ruffer Japanese fund after joining the firm in 2018 as an analyst. Wyld previously spent three years as a research analyst at JM Finn.

Wyld will assist Chikara’s Japanese equity team, which currently houses the Chikara Japan Income & Growth fund and the CC Japan Income & Growth Trust.
