PEOPLE MOVES: LGIM, Royal London, Aberdeen Standard

Investment manager hires COO, while mutual insurer names group CFO

Legal & General Investment Management

Brenda Sklar has been hired as LGIM’s chief operating officer, effective from 11 May 2020 and subject to regulatory approval. 

She was previously head of global client services and global chief operating officer of business operations at Blackrock. 

Sklar will be based in Chicago. 

Royal London 

Royal London has recruited Daniel Cazeaux as group chief financial officer, subject to regulatory approval. 

He will be taking on the role in early June as he joins from KPMG where he is currently an audit partner. 

Additionally, Tim Tookey and Kal Atwal have joined Royal London’s board as non-executive directors. Tookey will also chair the board’s audit committee, subject to formal regulatory approval. 

Most recently, Tookey was chief financial officer at Quilter until 2019, while Atwal spent the last 16 years ay BGL Group where she held several senior positions.  

Aberdeen Standard Investments 

David Lam has left Aberdeen Standard Investments after less than two years. 

He served as managing director and head of Hong Kong. 

HSBC Global Asset Management 

Michael Ridley has been promoted to senior responsible investment specialist. 

He will be responsible for building and driving HSBC GAM’s sustainable impact proposition.  

Ridley was previously global head of ESG fixed income research for HSBC’s global banking and markets business. 

Morgan Stanley Investment Management  

In a move to bolster its ESG team, Morgan Stanley IM has promoted Navindu Katugampola to head of sustainability for fixed income, based in London. 

He has been at the firm since 2004 and, most recently, was head of green and sustainability bonds within the global capital markets team.  

Quilter Investors 

Eimear Toomey has joined Quilter Investors as head of responsible investment. 

In her newly created role, Toomey will be responsible for embedding ESG principles into fund selection and stewardship, as well as other activities for the wider Quilter group. 

She previously worked as a director of client relations at Sustainalytics supporting asset managers with the integration of ESG risks and opportunities in the investment process. 

LGT Group 

The Liechtenstein-based private bank and asset management group will create three independent companies; LGT Private Banking, LGT Capital Partners and Lightstone. 

The three will be held directly by the Prince of Liechtenstein Foundation. 

Prince Philipp von und zu Liechtenstein will step down from his position as group chairman, while Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein, current group chief executive since 2006, will become chairman of the three companies. 

Oliver de Perregaux, group chief financial officer since 2001, will become chief executive of LGT Private Banking. 

The changes to the management structure will come into effect at the beginning of 2021. 

Ocorian 

The provider of funds and trust services has recruited Padraic Doherty as managing director of its Ireland office. 

He joins Ocorian from Maples, where he spent 14 years in the fiduciary services unit. 

The hire follows the merger of Ocorian and Estera. 

Alvarium Investments 

The independent investment firm has recruited Nancy Curtin as group chief investment officer, partner and head of investment advisory. 

She worked for 10 years at Close Brothers Asset Management, with chief investment officer as her most recent position. 

Nedbank Private Wealth 

Double senior promotion at the private bank in Jersey and the Isle of Man.  

David McFadzean will become head of wealth management to look after business development across the UK, Jersey, the Isle of Man and Dubai; while Andrew Halsall will take on the role of head of private banking in the Isle of Man. 

McFadzean served as head of investments in Jersey for over a year, whereas Halsall worked as a wealth manager since 2005. 

RBC Wealth Management  

RBC WM has made two additions to its Asian team. 

Alvin Chiam has taken on the role of wealth planner in Singapore, while Belle Hu has become an associate director in Beijing. 

Chiam joins from the International Planning Group where he served as vice president, while Hu returns to RBC after she served as an investment product expert at HSBC and as an FX equity trader at DBS Bank. 

Brewin Dolphin 

The wealth firm has hired Daniel Hough as a financial planner in a boost to its Glasgow team. 

He was previously at Mattioli Woods for over four years working in Aberdeenshire and Scotland’s central belt. 

JTC Private Office 

The fund and private services provider has appointed Silvia Andriotto as an associate director. 

She will be based in Monaco. 

Andriotto previously worked for Vistra for over six years in the pricipality, and most recently was a senior manager within the multifamily office division. 

Weatherbys Private Bank 

The family-owned private bank has made two senior hires. 

Clare Munro has become a senior tax adviser, while Rupert Allison will take on the roles of associate director and team head. 

Allison joins from Barclays Private Bank where he was a director focused on the high net worth client base. 

Munro was the lead tax partner at Lubbock before starting at Weatherbys. 

Dodge & Cox 

The investment firm specialising in the management of mutual funds, Ucits and private accounts for both individual and institutional investors has made a senior hire. 

Stephen Haswell will lead the firm’s non-US business development and client services from Dogde & Cox’s London office. 

He will relocate to London from Munich and be appointed managing director of Dodge & Cox Worldwide Investments. 

Haswell joins from Macquarie Investment management where he worked as managing director and head of Emea. 

Goal Group 

Goal Group, a firm specialising in securities class action recover services and withholding tax reclamation, has appointed Shane McLay as director of client services for Apac. 

He was previously at Citi Bank, where he served as vice president and a transaction services senior manager for the same region.
