Legal & General Investment Management

Head of wholesale distribution for UK, Europe and Latin America Steven de Vries has exited the firm as part of a wider structural change to the firm’s distribution team.

He joined the firm in 2021 after 19-years at Henderson Global Investors and Janus Henderson.

As part of the restructure, Mark Johnson and Volker Kurr have assumed the roles of head of UK – institutional and wholesale and head of Europe – institutional & wholesale respectively. The pair will be supported by 10 regional distribution leaders across the UK and Europe.

Fidelity International

Portfolio manager Claudio Ferrarese has left after more than 17 years with the company, Fidelity confirmed.

Ferrarese was part Fidelity’s fixed income team, working as a portfolio manager for the past nine years. He started at Fidelity in 2006 doing quantitative research for the fixed income team.

“We thank Claudio for his contribution to the fixed income team and wish him well for the future,” Fidelity stated.

The exit follows the May announcement that Allianz’s Mike Riddell has joined Fidelity to become lead portfolio manager of the strategic and total return bond funds. Current lead Tim Foster will “assume co-portfolio manager responsibilities”.

Premier Miton

Nick Ford manager of the £1.6bn Premier Miton US Opportunities fund, has announced his decision to retire at the end of September.

He has co-managed the fund alongside Hugh Grieves since launch in 2013. The pair also run the £35m Premier Miton US Smaller Companies strategy.

Ford joined the firm in 2012 from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and has worked in the investment management industry for nearly 40 years.

Merck Mercuriadis, founder and chair of Hipgnosis Song Management (HSM), has announced his intention to exit.

He will step away once the proposed $1.58bn acquisition of Hipgnosis Songs Fund by Blackstone through Lyra Bidco has completed.

Mercuriadis founded HSM in 2018, and stood down as CEO of the firm back in February.
