Director of private banking joins wealth manager and UK taxman names chief executive

Kleinwort Hambros

The private banking and wealth management division of Societe Generale Group has named Richard Lockhart as director of private banking in its Edinburgh office.

He will be responsible for managing client relationships and expand the company’s presence in Scotland.

Lockhart joins from Adam & Company, a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he worked at since 1989 and served as an executive director since 2010.

HMRC

HM Revenue & Customs has named Jim Harra as chief executive and permanent secretary, as approved by UK prime minister Boris Johnson.

He was previously the second permanent secretary at HMRC and has been covering the top job on an interim basis since October 2019, after Jonathan Thompson became the chief executive of the Financial Reporting Council.

Unicredit

Fabio Lanza has been promoted to head of business transformation and development, wealth management for Unicredit Group, effective immediately.

He will be responsible for developing the growth of the wealth management business and improving operational efficiency.

Lanza leaves his previous position as general co-director of commercial and operations at Cordusio SIM, a wealth management division of Unicredit Group.

Julius Baer

The Swiss private bank has hired Yvonne Suter as head of corporate sustainability and responsible investment.

She is tasked with further developing the group’s strategy across all business areas.

Suter previously spent five years as head of sustainable investment at Credit Suisse.

Capital Group

Grégoire Seron has been appointed Benelux marketing director for financial intermediaries at the global asset management firm.

He will be based in Luxembourg and lead the firm’s marketing strategy in the region.

Seron joins from Fidelity International where he served as head of marketing planning and analytics for Continental Europe.

EFG International

The global private banking group’s board of directors has nominated Peter Franconi to become chairman and Amy Yip to become a member of the board, subject to shareholder approval.

Current chair John Williamson has decided not to seek re-election at the next annual general meeting in 2020, but will keep working for the firm as a strategic adviser.

Franconi was most recently a member of the board of Deutsche Bank Switzerland, from which he stepped down at the end of October 2019.

Yip has recently taken on the role of chair of the bank’s ESG Asia Pacific advisory board.

Liontrust

The fund management group has added Martyn Jones to its sustainable investment team as a fund manager.

He also became the co-manager of Liontrust Sustainable Future UK Growth, SF European Growth, GF SF Pan-European Growth and UK Ethical funds on 1 November 2019.

He has been with the Liontrust team since 2012.

Golden Equator Wealth

The Singapore-based multi family office has appointed Gary Tiernan as managing partner.

He will lead the firm’s team of wealth managers to expand into other markets.

Tiernan joins from Crossinvest Asia where he worked as head of investments.

GCW Global Customised Wealth

Ramy Goldstein has joined the global investment management firm as a senior adviser.

He will be based in London and work as a strategic business consultant.

Goldstein is also the founder of investment firm SM Capital Group.

AAB wealth

Scotland’s Anderson Anderson & Brown (AAB) Wealth has named Benny Higgins as non-executive chairman.

He joins the financial planning firm while holding several chair and executive chair positions, having stepped down as chief executive of Tesco Bank in 2017.
