PEOPLE MOVES: Julius Baer, Legal & General, Emirates NBD…

Swiss private bank Julius Baer named its new chief executive for the UK and Ireland, while Legal & General promoted from within to fill its Cofunds chairman role. Emirates NBD appointed a new wealth management chief investment officer, Vestra Wealth added to its private office, and SBG appointed a new head of lender relationships.

Julius Baer

David Durlacher has been appointed chief executive of Julius Baer International, London. He will be responsible for the UK and Ireland, with his appointment subject to regulatory approval.

Durlacher currently leads a significant part of the UK business and is a member of the executive committee and director of the board of Julius Baer International. He joined Julius Baer from Merrill Lynch International Wealth Management (IWM) UK when the business was acquired in 2013.

He replaces Adam Horowitz, the current chief executive of Julius Baer International, will retire as planned after having integrated IWM UK and Ireland into the Julius Baer Group.  

Legal & General

Legal & General has promoted Jackie Noakes to lead its savings business, as chairman of Cofunds and managing director of Savings. Noakes previously ran the company’s mature savings business and was Legal & General’s chief information officer.

Emirates NBD

Gary Dugan has been appointed chief investment officer, wealth management at Middle Eastern bank Emirates NBD. With over 30 years’ experience Dugan returns to Emirates NBD having served as chief investment officer between 2009 and 2012.

He has held chief investment officer roles at Barclays and Merrill Lynch in London, Coutts in Singapore, and most recently at National Bank of Abu Dhabi. For 11 years he worked for JPMorgan in London where he was a managing director.

Dugan will be responsible for leading the chief investment officer office within Emirates NBD Wealth Management, providing guidance to Emirates NBD’s private banking and retail clients.

Vestra Wealth

Vestra Wealth has appointed Robert Juxon to its private office. Prior to Vestra, Juxon spent 10 years as a director and senior private banker at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, where he specialised in residential non-domicile clients and sat on the investment committee.

Prior to Barclays Wealth, Juxon worked at Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan investment banks.

Sesame Bankhall Group

Sesame Bankhall Group (SBG) has appointed Jane Benjamin as head of lender relationships. Benjamin has worked in the financial services industry for over 15 years and has held senior management roles at companies including Santander and Pink Home Loans.

Reporting into SBG sales director, Mark Graves, and working alongside SBG’s senior product manager, Rob McCoy, Benjamin is responsible for leading and managing the group’s day-to-day relationships with new and existing lenders.
