Retirement platform hires CEO, as UK-headquartered group names head of wealth planning

James Hay 

Retirement wealth planning business James Hay has hired Richard Rowney as chief executive. 

He was previously group chief executive of insurer LV=, where he worked for 13 years. 

Rowney succeeds outgoing boss Alastair Conway. 

Kingswood 

The wealth and investment management firm named Jeff Grantham as head of wealth planning. 

He is the founder of Sterling Trust, which was acquired by Kingswood in June 2020. 

Grantham will lead the firm’s advisory network, as well as be responsible for wealth planning strategy and performance. 

Eastspring 

The Asian asset management business of Prudential has recruited Adisorn Sermchaiwong as head of Thailand. 

He has also become chief executive of TMBAM Eastspring and Thanchart Fund Eastspring, replacing the bosses of each firm. 

Sermchaiwong was previously president and chief executive of CIMB Thai Bank, where he worked since 2012. 

7IM 

Colin Rowe will become managing director of private client at 7IM. 

He was Close Brothers Asset Management’s former managing director of advice. 

Waverton 

The investment firm has named Julian Polnik as head of sales support within the intermediary sales team. 

He was previously a business development manager at Smith & Williamson. 

Vontobel 

The Swiss investment firm has hired Toby Triebel as head of its digital investing client unit, effective from 5 October. 

He was European chief executive and head of international at fintech firm Wealthsimple for four years. 

Raymond James 

The wealth management firm has recruited Nick Fox to lead the newly opened independent branch in Watford. 

He served as an investment manager at WH Ireland for over five years. 

The branch will provide discretionary and advisory investment services to UK-based clients. 

Columbia Threadneedle 

Four members of staff will leave Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ UK real estate team. 

Team head John Willcock is set to retire at the end of the year after 26 years at the firm. 

Similarly, Chris Morrogh, who looks after the institutional property unit, will retire in February 2021 after 29 years at the company. 

Joseph Vullo will take over as head of UK real estate and James Rigg will become chief investment officer for the team. 

Additionally, fund managers Nathan Hargreaves and Sandy Wilson resigned to pursue other career plans. 

Key 

The equity release advisory firm has expanded its estate planning team with the hire of Andrew Parkinson. 

He will become head of sales and operations, a newly created role. 

Parkinson joins from Legal Hub Group where he was most recently group operations director.
