PEOPLE MOVES: HSBC Life, EFG International, Brown Shipley

Insurer makes c-suite changes, while Swiss private bank names head of continental Europe and Middle East

HSBC Life

The life insurer has named Celia Chan as chief health officer and Daisy Tsang as chief distribution and customer officer.

Most recently, Chan was senior director, customer propositions and experience at Prudential Hong Kong.

Tsang was most recently head of sales and channel development at HSBC Life.

EFG International

The global financial services firm has named Patrick Ramsey as head of continental Europe and Middle East region and member of the global business committee, effective January 2021.

Ramsey served as head of wealth management and member of the executive committee at CA Indosuez (Switzerland), where he worked since 2013 until earlier this year.

At EFG, he will succeed Adrian Kyriazi, who has decided to step down as of year-end.

Going forward, Kyriazi will continue to support EFG as a senior adviser.

Brown Shipley

The Quintet Private Bank subsidiary has hired Elizabeth Weir as head of London and international.

Weir joins Brown Shipley from UBS, where she was a managing director in London.

Isle of Man Financial Services Authority

Karen Badgerow has announced that she will be leaving her post as chief executive of the regulator in the latter part of 2021.

She has been with the authority since its inception in November 2015 and was due to leave in 2022 at the end of a seven-year assignment.

In announcing her resignation, Badgerow confirmed her desire to spend more time with her family back in Canada and to pursue some personal interests.

Badgerow will work closely with chair Lillian Boyle and the board of the authority over the coming months to assist with the recruitment process and ensure a smooth transition to the next chief executive.

Zurich

Louise Colley has been appointed to lead Zurich’s individual protection business in UK and will join its life executive team as head of retail protection on 1 December.

She joins from Aviva where she held multiple roles including managing director of protection, and more latterly customer director roles in digital propositions and Aviva Group.

Peter Hamilton has been appointed as head of market engagement, while Martin Taphouse has been named as head of business transformation where he will continue to progress the next stage of strategy delivery in the life executive team.

Brewin Dolphin

The UK wealth manager has appointed Charles Ferry as executive director.

He joined Brewin Dolphin in 2008 as a divisional director, became co-head of private clients in 2016 and managing director of private clients in 2017.

In 2020, Ferry was appointed managing director of wealth and investment.

Wealthify

The digital investment service has named Ben Luckett as chairman.

Luckett is a former strategy director for Aviva’s UK general insurance business and has served on Wealthify’s board since 2019.

He is currently also managing director of Aviva Ventures, the strategic corporate venture fund that invests in innovative, technology growth companies.

Luckett takes over from Richard Avery-Wright, one of Wealthify’s original co-founders and angel investor, who, as a result of Aviva completing its acquisition of Wealthify in June this year, will now stand down as chairman.

Stonehage Fleming

The family office has unveiled its UK advisory board with the appointment of Lord Robin Renwick as its chairman, Natalie Campbell and Anthony Wreford.

Lord Renwick was a senior diplomat who served as British Ambassador to the USA and South Africa.

Campbell is a social entrepreneur who founded A Very Good Company in 2011 to put purpose, sustainability and inclusion into businesses.

She is currently chief executive of Belu Water and a board member for the London Economic Action Partnership and the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC).

Wreford is formerly deputy chairman of Omnicom Europe and president of the MCC.

The Pensions Ombudsman

Caroline Rookes has been named as the Chair of the TPO.

She was appointed as interim chair of in September 20
