Life insurer shuffles c-suite, as wealth firm names head of responsible investments

HSBC Life Singapore 

The Singapore division of HSBC Life has recruited Philip Pang and Chee Koon How as chief investment officer and chief product officer, respectively. 

Pang joins from Prudential Singapore where he spent the last eight years as head of investment, and will be overseeing the firm’s strategy. 

How will look after product development and the management of the existing range of HSBC Life. He was previously at AIA Singapore where he served as head of consumer marketing. 

Brooks Macdonald 

Ben Palmer has been promoted to head of responsible investments. 

The move follows Brooks Macdonald’s introduction of a suitability guide for financial advisers and its responsible investment service expansion to international planners. 

Palmer joined the wealth management firm in 2011 through its graduate programme and worked as an analyst within the responsible investment team. 

He will keep his current responsibilities on top of leading the responsible investment service. 

Pinebridge Investments 

The global asset manager has named Brian McCarthy as chief risk officer for Europe. 

He will be based in Dublin to oversee the firm’s risk management infrastructure. 

Before joining, McCarthy held a similar position at Ashmore Investment Management Ireland. 

Tilney Smith & Williamson 

Newly merged Tilney Smith & Williamson has hired Mayank Prakash as chief technology officer. 

He was previously at utilities group Centrica where he served as chief consumer digital and information officer. 

Additionally, Tilney for Professionals, part of the wealth group, has expanded its international business development team with two hires. 

Maurice Keane and Jeremy Bezant will become head of international business development and business development manager, respectively. 

Keane was previously managing director for international business development at Rathbone Brothers since 2017; while Bezant was at the same company as director for international business development since 2018. 

Capital Group 

Global investment firm Capital Group has appointed Alexandra Haggard as head of product and investment services for Europe and Asia. 

She will be based in London and oversee the group’s investment services across the two regions. 

Haggard joins from Blackrock where she worked as global head of equity product and Emea head of strategic pricing. 

Neuberger Berman 

Kaveh Samie has been hired as executive chairman and head of Middle East and north Africa at the investment management firm. 

He will be based in Dubai and oversee client coverage across the region. 

Before joining, Samie spent almost nine years at investment firm KKR as chief executive and head of Middle East, north Africa and new markets. 

BDO 

Accountancy and business advisory company BDO has named Catharine Grum as head of family office services. 

She joins from KPMG where she served as a partner. 

Square Mile 

Sally Boyle will take on the role of business development director at investment research firm Square Mile. 

She previously spent a decade at Octopus Investments holding several senior positions across the business, and was most recently area sales director covering the north and southeast of England. 

Credit Suisse 

Martin Mende will become Credit Suisse’s head of strategy and initiatives, effective from 1 October 2020. 

He will succeed Daniel Hunziker, who has been promoted to head of institutional client business. 

Mende joins from Boston Consulting group, where he worked at since 2012 as a partner. 

Mainstreet Partners 

ESG specialist company Mainstreet Partners has named Simone Gallo and Neill Blanks as managing director and research director, respectively. 

Gallo was previously head of global intermediary solutions at Unigestion, while Blanks used to work at now defunct company RM Caldecott & Partners as a senior portfolio manager and partner.
