Guardian Wealth Management
Guardian Wealth Management’s Middle East regional director, Hamzah Shalchi, has announced he has left the firm.
Starting with the company almost a decade ago, Shalchi rose through the ranks at Guardian to lead an expansion across the region, and played a part in the opening and relaunching of offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
Speaking about leaving his role, Shalchi thanked the company for helping him develop his career but said he looked at 2019 as an opportunity to take on a new challenge.
Banque Havilland
Family-owned private bank Banque Havilland has appointed Lars Rejding as chief executive of Banque Havilland Luxembourg, with overall responsibility for all group entities, effective 1 January 2019.
The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
Rejding has 22 years of management experience at HSBC, most recently as country chief executive of HSBC Luxembourg.
The bank in Luxembourg provides wealth management services to high net worth individuals and family offices.
Columbia Threadneedle
Columbia Threadneedle Investments has appointed Olivia Watson as senior analyst and Jess Williams as portfolio analyst in the responsible investment team, based in London.
They will report to Chris Anker, lead analyst for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Watson joins from the Principles for Responsible Investment, where she oversaw the development of collaborative investor initiatives and investor engagement on environmental and social issues.
Williams was previously at S&P Global Ratings where she developed sustainable finance products.
Syz Asset Management
Syz Asset Management has appointed William Nott as chief executive, effective 7 January 2019.
He will become a member of the executive committee of the group and a key shareholder of Syz Asset Management.
Nott has 35 years’ experience in strategic leadership positions, including a spell as chief executive and chairman of M&G Securities.
Bank Sohar
Oman-based Bank Sohar has appointed Aziz al Jahdhami as assistant general manager and head of wealth management.
Jahdhami will be responsible for spearheading the bank’s wealth management with a range of developments expected in 2019, including new products, investment platforms and services.
He has experience working on wealth management, private banking and investment management portfolios at several local banks.
Fundrock
Fundrock, a service provider for Luxembourg, UK and Ireland-based funds, has appointed Xavier Parain to the role of chief executive, effective 7 January 2019.
He joins from the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), the French financial markets regulator, where he held the position of managing director at the asset management operation.
Intertrust
Intertrust Jersey has appointed Tania Bearryman as executive director of trust and company services.
Bearryman will have oversight of Intertrust’s private wealth, treasury and investments, capital markets, corporate services, and performance and reward management service lines.
Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management
Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management has appointed Angela Lloyd-Read as wealth adviser to its wealth planning team.
Lloyd-Read has over 15 years’ experience working in the wealth planning industry and specialises in pensions, tax and retirement planning for high net worth individuals, having previously worked at Rosemount IFA and CBW Financial Planning.
Charles Stanley
Wealth manager Charles Stanley has expanded its Oxford office with a raft of new hires.
Ian Brookes has joined as a financial planner from Critchley’s Financial Planning, where he worked for 16 years.
Also, James Huntington has joined as a paraplanner from McGrath Rathbone, where he worked for six and a half years.
In addition, David Hamilton-Stubber and Luke Horvath were also appointed to the investment management team. Hamilton-Stubber has re-joined Charles Stanley as an investment manager.
He was previously a partner covering wealth management at St James’ Place, where he worked for two years, Prior to that, he worked in the Charles Stanley Newbury office for over 22 years.
Horvath has joined as a trainee investment adviser having relocated from Warwick, where he worked for Redmayne Bentley and completed the CISI Level 6 Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice & Management.
He is currently studying towards the CISI Masters in Wealth Management to become a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.
PraxisIFM
Financial services firm PraxisIFM has appointed Richard Harland as group head of funds.
Based in London, Harland has overall responsibility for the group’s funds services division.
Harland joins PraxisIFM from SEI, where he was EMEA head of sales, business development and relationship management.
