PEOPLE MOVES: GSB Capital, EFG International, Seccl

UAE advice firm hires managing partner, while Swiss private bank names chairman

GSB Capital

David Smylie has taken on the role of managing partner at the Dubai-based advice firm.

He joins from Sigma Private Office where he served as partner.

EFG International

Peter Fanconi has decided to step down as chair and member of the board of EFG International and EFG Bank, effective from 31 October 2022, for personal reasons.

As a result, the board has nominated Alexander Classen to take over the position. He is currently chief executive and country head of Switzerland at HSBC Private Bank (Suisse), which he will leave on 30 September 2022.

Seccl

UK-based platform technology provider Seccl has hired Adam Jones as chief technology officer.

He was previously at investment consultancy Redington where he served in a similar role as well as executive director, and managing director of Ada Fintech, the company’s portfolio management, research and governance platform.

Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management

The wealth management firm’s central investment office has promoted Kamal Warraich to head of equity fund research in the UK.

He has been at the firm since the acquisition of Hargreave Hale in 2016, and is based in north Wales.

Aviva

Suzanne Rose has become head of master trust and workplace proposition at Aviva.

She used to lead the workplace arm already and will continue doing so moving forward.

Martin Palmer, who was head of master trust for the past three years, has decided to leave the insurance giant for a “semi-retirement”, as he still intends to remain involved in the pensions industry.

Marlborough Group

Investment and fund management firm Marlborough Group has recruited Max Zorza as group chief risk officer.

He was previously at Architas, where he worked in senior risk roles between 2009 and 2020, and was most recently global head of risk.

Chase Buchanan

Paul Lanigan has joined the Cyprus-based wealth firm as head of global sales.

He will be responsible for the eight offices and private wealth managers across Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, Belgium Malta, the US and Canada.

He used to work as head of region at Standard Life and most recently as distribution strategy director at Blackfinch Group.

IQ-EQ

Rajindar Singh has taken on the role of client services director in IQ-EQ’s Singapore business.

In the newly created position, he will be responsible for expanding the firm’s senior client servicing team in the Lion City.

Singh joins from Amicorp Fund Services in Singapore where he served as head of business development.

Oak Group

The private client and fund administration business promoted Jo Gorrod to managing director of its Jersey office.

She joined the firm in 2018 as client services director from Equiom Group where she held a similar position.
