Goldman Sachs

Goldman Sachs has appointed Todd Leland as its head of investment banking for Asia Pacific excluding Japan. The move follows other leadership changes at the bank since David Solomon took over as chief executive earlier this month.

Veteran banker Leland joined Goldman Sachs in 1992 and replaces co-heads Andrea Vella and Kate Richdale, who are both set to stay in Asia as the unit’s co-chairs.

Invesco

Asset management firm Invesco has named Elizabeth Gillam as its head of EU government relations and public policy.

Based in Brussels, this newly created role follows the creation of the firm’s US government relations team, with the aim of widening external engagement across jurisdictions in tandem with the US team.

Gillam previously worked with HM Treasury, the City of London Corporation in Brussels and AllianzGI.

Fulcrum

Independent asset management company Fulcrum has hired Akio Ohtsuka as a senior adviser, with responsibility for providing strategic insight into the Japanese asset management landscape.

Ohtsuka is currently an executive adviser for Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, where he has worked in a number of senior roles since joining in 1976. He has also written several seminal financial publications.

Commonwealth Bank

Australia’s Commonwealth Bank (CBA) has announced that its acting chief financial officer Alan Docherty will take over on a permanent basis after initially assuming the role in May.

Previously, Docherty held the same position for the institutional banking and market division of CBA, and before that held senior roles in group treasury and group finance.

Docherty’s appointment is one of many leadership changes happening at the bank, with a new chief information officer announced earlier in October and a new chief risk officer set to start in November.

BNP Paribas

The asset management group has announced two additions. Adam Kanzer will take over as head of stewardship for the Americas within the company’s sustainability centre, while Corinne Massuyeau will fill the newly created position of global head of client services.

Kanzer joins after spending 20 years at Domini Impact Investment in New York, whereas Massuyeau comes from Pioneer Investment, where she has worked since 2001.

Investec

Investec Asset Management has appointed Nidhi Mahurkar as investment director of its emerging markets equity team.

Mahurkar will focus on the firm’s offerings in Asia, China and emerging markets, as it looks to build capacity in this growing asset class.

She brings more than a decade’s experience from various roles at Pictet Asset Management, most recently as co-head of global emerging markets equities.

Vanguard

The company has appointed Marco Corsi as head of its new global ETF research centre in London. The team will focus on studying and researching exchange-traded funds and ETF investors.

Corsi joins Vanguard after holding the director of iShares position at Blackrock, and also has roles at Decura, Barclays and Merrill Lynch on his resumé.

Labuan

Malaysia’s minister of finance has approved the appointment of Oh Chong Peng as chairman of the Labuan Financial Services Authority until February 2020.

Oh’s previous positions include non-executive director of British American Tobacco (Malaysia) and chairman of the Alliance Financial Group.
