PEOPLE MOVES: Franklin Templeton, KPMG, Westpac

Investment manager hires head of distribution, as auditing firm names global head of tax

Franklin Templeton 

Julian Ide has been named head of Emea distribution at the investment management firm. 

This comes as the company is set to complete its acquisition of asset management business Legg Mason on 31 July 2020. 

Ide will also retain his role as chief executive of active equity specialist Martin Currie, part of Legg mason. 

He will be based in Edinburgh. 

KPMG International  

The global network of professional services firms providing audit, tax and advisory services has promoted David Linke to global head of tax and legal practice. 

He is currently the Asia Pacific regional leader for tax, as well as the head of tax, deals and legal at KPMG Australia, and has been at the firm since 1993. 

Linke will replace Jane McCormick who has been in the role since 2016. 

Westpac 

The Australian financial and banking services provider has hired Scott Collary as chief operating officer. 

He joins from Bank of Montreal in Canada where he held several c-suite roles, including chief information officer and chief operations officer. 

Collary will start his tenure at Westpac later this year, subject to regulatory approval. 

Additionally, the bank’s group executive Gary Thursby will leave the firm in early 2021, after 13 years. 

MFS Investment Management 

Carsten Uekermann has become the European investment management firm’s director of international accounts. 

He will focus on key global partners in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and will be based in Frankfurt. 

Uekermann will be responsible for maintaining and creating relationships with intermediaries in the Dach region. 

He joins from Lombard Odier Investment Management where he served as sales director. 

Royal London Asset Management 

Ann O’Brien and Christopher Morson have become non-executive directors to Royal London AM’s board. 

O’Brien currently holds a similar position on the board of the AIB Group, serving as a member of its remuneration, business sustainability and audit committees. 

Morson has held several non-executive directorships, including at the HM Land Registry, DVLA, The Pensions Regulator and the Money Advice Service.
