FCA

Former Slaughter & May lawyer Charles‎ Randell, who advised the Treasury during the bail-out of UK banks in 2008, has been tipped to succeed John Griffith-Jones as the chairman of the UK regulator.

Sky News said the final decision could be made as early as tomorrow with one other figure in the running.

St James’ Place

St James’ Place chief executive Andrew Croft has started in post.

SJP said David Bellamy was to be replaced by Andrew Croft last year.

Penningtons Manches

Penningtons Manches has recruited three new lawyers to expand its private client team.

Associate Rachel Spruce joins the private client and tax team in the firm’s Guildford office from GRM Law.

Spruce advises on a wide range of private client matters including will drafting, estate planning, lasting powers of attorney, probate and lifetime trusts.

The contentious probate and trusts disputes team, based in Basingstoke, welcomes two new lawyers, associates Jack Bailey and Jessica Davies.

Bailey joins the firm from Blandy & Blandy LLP, with significant experience in Court of Protection matters and mental capacity law, including contentious and non-contentious applications; lasting powers of attorney comprising advice to lay attorneys on their duties; offering clients guidance on care fees and related issues; and advising trustees and beneficiaries. He also advises on contentious probate matters.

Davies, who completed her training in the London office of a US law firm, acts for clients nationwide on all aspects of UK trust and probate litigation, including will validity disputes, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, estate administration disputes and proprietary estoppel claims.

Asset Risk Consultants (ARC)

Chartered accountant Joe Donohoe has rejoined investment consulting firm Asset Risk Consultants (ARC), taking up a position on the board of its Jersey subsidiary.

Donohoe, who previously spent three years with ARC while completing a law degree with the University of London, brings with him over thirty years of experience of the world of international private wealth working in senior roles with Abacus, RBC Wealth Management and Zedra.

Established in 1995, ARC is headquartered in Guernsey, with offices in London and Jersey and currently employs over 60 consultants, analysts, developers and support staff.

Avaloq

After two years as deputy group chief executive and group chief markeing officer Juerg Hunziker is Avaloq’s new group chief executive.

Former executive Francisco Fernandez will concentrate on his role as the group chairman and focus on innovation, strategy and acquisitions.

The software provider offers cloud-based software solutions, delivered as a service.
