UK regulator names interim CEO, while life assurance firm hires group chief executive

Financial Conduct Authority

The UK regulator has appointed Christopher Woolard as interim chief executive.

Woolard will take on the chief executive role following Andrew Bailey’s departure to become governor of the Bank of England.

He is currently the FCA’s executive director of strategy and competition and an executive member of the FCA’s board.

Lombard International Group

The life assurance firm has named Stuart Parkinson as group chief executive and a member of the board of directors.

Parkinson will be joining on 1 April.

Most recently, he was global chief investment officer of HSBC Private Banking.

He replaces John Hillman, who will be appointed executive chairman on 1 April 2020.

Indosuez Wealth Management

The firm has promoted Olivier Livenais to chief executive of its Hong Kong branch. He will be relocating from France.

He succeeds Antoine Candiotti, who is retiring after more than three decades with the group.

Livenais will oversee Indosuez’s wealth management business in Hong Kong and north Asia and was most recently global head of business development.

Lombard Odier Investment Managers

Nathalia Barazal has been appointed to succeed Hubert Keller as chief executive of the firm.

She is head of convertible bonds and fixed income at LOIM, roles she will retain during the transition period.

Barazal joined LOIM in 2004 as a convertibles bonds portfolio manager.

This follows the announcement in the summer that Keller will succeed Patrick Odier as senior managing partner of the Lombard Odier group during the same period.

Interactive Investor

The UK investment platform has hired Freddie Gjertsen as chief commercial officer.

He was product director at Moneysupermarket Group, where he was responsible for personalisation and mobile applications.

Sun Life Hong Kong

Steven Fong will re-join the company as general manager of distribution and Martin Fortier has been named general manager of financial affairs.

In his role, Fong leads all distribution channels including agencies and brokerages, as well as training and development of the agency team.

Fong was chief agency officer at Sun Life in 2018. He replaces Belinda Au, who is currently leading a new project within the Sun Life Asia regional office, further details will be announced at a later date.

Fortier has more than 25 years of experience.

He was most recently with Sun Life Malaysia, where he held various roles including chief risk officer, chief actuary, appointed actuary and chief financial management officer.

The Fry Group

The global financial advisory group has expanded its Middle East team with the appointment of George Howard.

She has more than 30 years’ experience of financial planning and private banking and has worked with UBS and Barclays Wealth, as well as Lloyds Banking Group.

Jersey Finance

Allan Wood has joined the island’s promotional agency as global head of business development.

He has worked with Jersey Finance for a number of years and has been promoted from his previous role as regional business development head for the west.

Formerly with Barclays International in Jersey, Wood has more than 25 years’ experience in financial services in Jersey and the UK.

Aixigo

The international software provider for digital financial wealth management services has bolstered its presence in the UK, Italy and southern Europe.

Jamie Keen will be responsible for the UK market. He has over 20 years´ experience in financial services, holding senior sales positions at both S&P and Morningstar.

Pier Luca Chiommino will be responsible for the markets in Italy and southern Europe.

He has more than 25 years of experience in financial services.

Westpac Group

The Australian bank has named John McFarlane as non-executive director and chairman-elect, succeeding Lindsay Maxsted on 2 April 2020.

McFarlane will start his role as non-executive director in February, subject to regulatory approvals.

Most recently, McFarlane was chairman at Barclays in London.
