PEOPLE MOVES: Fairway Group, Calamatta Cuschieri, Schroders PW

Jersey firm makes c-suite changes, while Malta-based company names head of private clients

Fairway Group

The Jersey-headquartered firm has appointed Mark Hucker as interim chief executive and Matt Ebbrell as chief operating officer.

Hucker brings with him more than 20 years of finance industry experience with roles at Standard Bank, Key Trust, Ermitage Group and most recently VG.

He will caretake the chief executive role while Louise Bracken-Smith is on extended leave.

Ebbrell has been promoted to chief operating officer having been part of the Fairway Group as HR director since 2018.

He takes responsibility for Fairway’s people, IT, finance, marketing and facilities strategies.

Calamatta Cuschieri

The Maltese financial services firm has promoted Stephen Borg to the role of head of private clients.

Borg joined Calamatta Cuschieri in 2019 as head of wealth and fund management.

Schroders Personal Wealth (SPW)

The wealth management firm has appointed Marcelo Rodrigues to lead its business development proposition across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

He was the business development director at boutique wealth management firm RMS Financial, where he was also providing financial advice to high net worth clients.

Vontobel

Maria-Antonella Bino, the former deputy attorney general of Switzerland, will take over the post of general counsel on 1 June 2021, with global responsibility for the legal and compliance operation.

At the same time, she will become a member of the executive committee of Vontobel and Bank Vontobel.

Bino is joining Vontobel from the Swiss digital bank Sygnum.

Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM)

The UK firm has named Tristan Robinson as investment director, to support the growth of its investment management service for high net worth clients in the north west.

He joins CBAM from Brown Shipley, where he spent nine years as a client director in Manchester.

Carey Olsen

The law firm has strengthened its dispute resolution and litigation, and trusts and private wealth teams in Guernsey with the appointments of associates Sarah Kett, Acsah Nel and Shumona Neswar.

Keltt and Nel have recently joined the dispute resolution and litigation team. Keltt advises local and international clients on a range of matters including corporate and company law disputes, trust disputes, employment law, intellectual property and commercial litigation.

Nel specialises in a wide range of contentious and non-contentious aspects of corporate and company law, including contractual disputes.

Neswar, who previously worked in the private client team at Knights in the UK, joined the Guernsey trusts and private wealth team earlier this year.

She advises trustees and high net worth individuals on a wide range of trust and private wealth matters, with a particular focus on Wills, trusts and estate planning.

PraxisIFM

The firm has appointed two experienced financial services professionals to its private client and corporate team in Jersey.

Ann Shanahan has been appointed as head of compliance in the team and Samantha Godwin has been named as senior manager of private client and corporate.

Farrer & Co

The law firm has hired Gerard Heyes as a partner in the disputes resolution team.

He specialises in financial services litigation, disputes and investigations and in managing contentious risk.

Heyes joins from Simmons & Simmons, where he was a managing associate in the London office.
