PEOPLE MOVES: Fairstone, Gam, Quilter Cheviot

Advice firm hires CFO, as asset manager names chief operating officer

Fairstone Group

The planning business has appointed Iain Jamieson as chief financial officer to replace Chris Rigg, who left the company in July.

Jamieson, who has over 20 years’ experience, will start in the role at the beginning of January and join its board of directors.

He was previously chief operating officer of insurance firm Stackhouse Poland.

Gam

Steve Rafferty has been named chief operating officer.

He was formerly at Blackrock for 16 years, most recently as global chief operating officer for the fixed income division.

Rafferty reports to Peter Sanderson, group chief executive officer, and is responsible for overseeing Gam’s day-to-day global business.

Quilter Cheviot

The firm has hired Daniel Jolliffe and Murray Gillan as investment managers in its offices in Jersey and Glasgow, respectively.

Jolliffe joins the firm’s Jersey office from Rathbones; prior to that, he worked at Barclays Wealth and Close Brothers Asset Management.

He will focus his attention on Quilter Cheviot’s international business, working closely with the regional development team in Dubai.

In Glasgow, Gillan has joined the team from Brewin Dolphin.

Commonwealth Bank of Australia

Adam Bennett has decided to leave his post as group executive, business and private banking at the end of January 2020.

He joined the firm in 2004.

From February 2020, Mike Vacy-Lyle will replace Bennett in the role.

Vacy-Lyle is currently chief executive of FNB Commercial Banking, a division of FirstRand Banking Group in South Africa.

Mirabaud Group

The wealth manager has named Alain Baron as a limited partner, effective from 1 January 2020.

Having joined Mirabaud in 2012, Baron is currently responsible for the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) wealth management markets.

JP Morgan AM

The asset manager has appointed Myles Bradshaw to head up its global aggregate strategies team, as it promotes Iain Stealey to chief investment officer of its global fixed income currencies and commodities group.

Bradshaw joins from Amundi, where he was head of the global aggregate fixed income team.

Carey Olsen

The offshore law firm has added to its trusts and private wealth practice in Guernsey with the appointment of counsel Andrew Munro.

He joins Carey Olsen having spent the past 15 years at fellow offshore law firm Ogier, where he was director of its associated trust businesses.
