Three new hires across Leeds and Newcastle offices

Evelyn Partners

The firm has made three new hires across its Leeds and Newcastle offices.

Mark Carter has joined the Leeds office as a director in financial planning, Ross Bone has joined the Newcastle office as associate financial planner, and Gail Carr has been added to the investment management team in Newcastle.

Carter has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services, with the plast 10 as a senior wealth manager, and joins from aberdeen where he worked for five years, most recently as financial planning director.

Bone has 10 years’ experience in financial services and joins from Equilibrium Financial Planning where he worked for five years.

Carr joins as a director from Rathbones where she worked for four years as an investment manager. She has 20 years’ experience in the industry having previously worked at Brewin Dolphin.

Jupiter

The firm has announced the closure of its £5m Pan European Smaller Companies fund following the departure of managers Mark Heslop and Philip Macartney.

The two were poached from Columbia Threadneedle, with Heslop joining in 2019 and Macartney following shortly after in 2020.

Macartney has now moved to Invesco, where he will begin work as a deputy fund manager.

Artemis

The asset manager has announced Man GLG’s Teun Johnston as CEO. He will join at the beginning of April, as senior partner Mark Murray retires at the end of June.

Murray has led the group for nearly a decade after first joining Artemis in 1997 and becoming COO in 2001. Johnston became co-CEO of Man GLG in 2013 before becoming the sole CEO in 2016. He was previously head of investments at Oakley Capital.

Aberdeen

Abrdn Asian Income has announced Isaac Thong as lead manager alongside Eric Chan, following Yoojeong Oh’s decision to leave aberdeen.

Thong joins the trust, and the wider aberdeen group, from JP Morgan Asset Management, where he co-managed the JP Morgan Global Emerging Markets Income trust and the open-ended JP Morgan Emerging Markets Income fund.

He will also lead Aberdeen’s Asian income portfolio construction group.
