Eastspring Investments
Raymond Tang has been named chief executive of Malaysia for Eastspring Investments, the investment management arm of Prudential.
Tang joined Eastspring from CIMB-Principal Asset Management, where he held a variety of roles including head of international and institutional business and chief investment officer of ASEAN region.
He is currently chairman of the Malaysian Association of Asset Managers, as well as chairman of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia index advisory committee.
Tokio Marine
Lance Tay, chief executive of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore, is to step down from his role on 31 May. The firm noted that Tay had been instrumental in helping it to become a Monetary Authority of Singapore Tier 1 Significant Insurer.
His successor has been identified and will start on 1 June. The company declined to name him advising that an announcement will be made in due course.
J. Safra Sarasin
Benedikt Maissen has been named chief executive of J. Safra Sarasin’s Singapore branch, effective from 1 April. He joined the Swiss private bank from Société Générale where he was head of the Zurich branch.
Prior to joining Société Générale, Maissen was head of the southeast Asia, Japan and Europe desk for Barclays Wealth Singapore.
Fiduciary Trust
Franklin Resources’ wealth management subsidiary has appointed John M. Dowd as chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors. Based in New York he will direct Fiduciary Trusts’ business and long-term growth strategy.
He previously served as executive vice president and senior managing director for Wells Fargo Wealth Management. Prior to that he was the managing executive of BNY Mellon’s wealth management business for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
First Seafront
JPMorgan’s former China investment banking chairman, Frank Gong, has joined Shenzhen-based First Seafront as honorary chairman.
Pending approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Gong is expected to relocate to Hong Kong to establish a local office as part of the firm’s expansion plans.
Noah International
Shanghai-based wealth management firm Noah International has hired Wang Piau Voon as co-chief investment officer. Wang, who joins from Adams Street Partners, will lead the private equity and real estate investment team.
Relocating from Singapore to Hong Kong, Wang’s appointment is understood to be part of Noah’s strategy to expand its Hong Kong operations beyond third-party product distribution, in line with its Chinese operations.
Aberdeen Asset Management
Martin Jennings has been appointed to the newly created role of head of Aberdeen Digital. He will be responsible for the recently acquired Parmenion, which provides discretionary fund management and platform services to the UK IFA market.
Jennings has held various senior positions in the financial service platform and technology market, including chief executive of FNZ in the UK and Australia and managing director of Axa’s Elevate platform.
