Banking group hires Asia CIO, while financial advice firm names CEO

Deutsche Bank International Private Bank

The international private banking arm of Deutsche Bank hired Stefanie Holtze-Jen as chief investment officer for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.

She joins from DWS, where she worked as global chief currency strategist and portfolio manager.

Wren Sterling

The IFA business has recruited James Twining to succeed Ian Halley as chief executive, effective from 28 February 2022.

He joins from insurance broker Kingsbridge Group, where he held a similar role for the last four and a half years.

Halley has led the firm since November 2016 and will become a non-executive director of the business as well as continue its work as part of the company’s risk and audit committee. He will also support chairman Ian Darby with the business’ acquisition strategy.

IQ-EQ

The investor services provider has made two senior hires.

Sophie Hubert will become chief commercial officer for IQ-EQ France. She was previously at Amundi for over two years where she served as head of fund hosting business line.

Greg Kok has taken on the role of managing director of IQ-EQ Guernsey, after spending the last three years in Luxembourg as group head management company for JTC Group.

EFG International

Chief financial officer Dimitris Politis has been promoted to deputy chief executive, effective from 1 March 2022.

He will retain his current responsibilities and also assume oversight of the litigation function, the firm said.

Aegon Asset Management

The global asset manager has hired Neil Sharp as business development manager for the south east and east Midlands.

He will focus on the firm’s UK wholesale relationships in the two regions.

Sharp was previously at Columbia Threadneedle, where he worked as regional manager for UK wholesale since 2014.

Franklin Templeton

In a bid to expand its Italian ETF platform, the asset management giant has named Silvia Anselmi as ETF sales specialist, based in Milan.

Most recently, she was at Pimco, where she spent three years as an account management associate for institutional clients.

Rize ETF

The European ETF issuer has appointed James Thomas as head of UK, Ireland and Channel Islands.

He will be responsible for the distribution side of the business.

Thomas joins from State Street Global Advisors, where he worked with the UK SPDR ETF team focusing on wealth managers, private banks and family offices.

JTC

The global private client services provider has promoted 150 across the group.

These include:

  • Gillian Ralston-Jordan as group director for private client services in Guersney;
  • Sarah Kittleson as group director for risk and compliance in Jersey;
  • William Cameron as managing director for fund and corporate services in London; and,
  • Naro Zimmerman as head of UAE in private client services.

Howard Kennedy

Monika Byrska joins the London-based law firm as a partner within the contentious trusts and estates team.

She joins from Thomson Snell & Passmore, where she worked in a similar department.

Bespoke Advice

The London-based independent financial advisory firm has named Rob Jones as head of its London office and as a wealth planner.

He joins from Sanlam Wealth, where he spent nearly 14 years has wealth planning director and head of the London office.
