PEOPLE MOVES: Deutsche Bank, QB Partners, Aegon

German banking group names CEO of Italy, as industry stalwart joins expert panel at Isle of Man firm

Deutsche Bank

After a 20-year career with the German banking group, including 12 years of consecutive service as chief country officer for Italy and chief executive at Deutsche Bank Italy, Flavio Valeri has decided to leave the organisation to pursue new challenges.

In response, the bank has named Roberto Parazzini as chairman of the management board and chief executive of Deutsche Bank Italy.

Parazzini will also become chief country officer of Deutsche Bank in Italy, and, effective 1 July 2020, general manager of Deutsche Bank Milan branch.

He joined the firm in 1999 and was previously chief operating officer of Deutsche Bank Italy and head of asset and wealth management Italy.

In addition to the changes, Serdar Oezkan has been appointed chief financial officer and member of the management board of Deutsche Bank Italy, replacing Carmine Di Martino who will leave the bank.

Oezkan has been with the bank for 14 years.

Also, Roberto Cabiati, chief information officer of Deutsche Bank Italy, has been named as a member of the management board at the Italian arm.

QB Partners

The firm announced Gerry Brown has joined its expert panel as trust and estate planning specialist.

He started his professional career as an inspector of taxes at what was then the Inland Revenue. After leaving, he worked as a tax specialist for a number of accountancy practices, also qualifying as a chartered accountant.

Brown joined the life industry in 1995 and held high-profile positions at Aegon and RL360, before joining Prudential in 2007.

He retired in 2016 after nine years at the firm.

Aegon

The insurance and pensions giant has appointed Duncan Russell as chief transformation office, a newly established role.

Russell will work closely with the executive board in setting the strategic direction of the company.

He joins from UK-based Admiral Group, where he last held the position of chief financial officer of Admiral Financial Services.

Investec Bank

The banking group has promoted Andy Smith to head of its trust and corporate team across the Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

Smith joined Investec in 2014 and has over 20 years’ experience of international banking in the local financial services sector.

He was relationship manager of financial intermediaries at RBS International in Jersey.

Smith & Williamson

The financial services firm, which is set to merge with Tilney, has made 22 promotions to partner and director.

Anne McClean and Richard Robson have become partners in the financial services operation.

Danny Button, George Flynn, David Harris, Lucy Mitchell, Dan Way and Steve Turbefield have all been promoted to directors in the financial services arm.

Smith & Williamson have named Sarah Bacon, Alexandra Bray, Katherine Colledge, Stuart Goodman, Amy Harper, Liz Hudson, Peter Key, Dominic Longley, Ruth Powell, Barnaby Redwood and Emily Spooner as directors in the professional services unit.

Lastly, Claire Croad, Michelle Murphy and Nicola Young have become directors in the support operation.

Syz Group

Investment professional and businesswoman Marlene Nørgaard Carolus has been appointed to the boards of the SYZ Group and Banque SYZ.

She succeeds Danish entrepreneur Casper Kirk Johansen, board member since 2015, and will represent his interests as shareholder, as well as those of clients in the Nordic region.

Currently, she is chief executive of Danish fintech company Mybanker, which matches individuals with banking services, helping Danish customers optimise their banking conditions and finances.
