PEOPLE MOVES: Deutsche Bank, Close Brothers, LGT Vestra

Bank names co-CEOs for Middle East and Africa, while asset manager hires director of advice

Duetsche Bank 

Loïc Voide and Kees Hoving have been promoted to co-chief executives for Middle East and Africa (Mea), based in Dubai. 

Voide will also become head of the international private bank Mea, chief country officer for the UAE and general manager of Deutsche Bank Dubai. 

Hoving will take on additional roles as well; including head or corporate bank Mea and head of corporate coverage Mea. 

Voide joined the German bank in 2015 to cover the Turkish markets and has been promoted to several senior roles, while Hoving started working at the firm in 2010 as head of corporate transaction banking in Germany. 

Close Brothers Asset Management 

James Ballinger has become practice director of the company’s advice team in London, in a push to grow Close Brother’s wealth management offering to high net worth clients. 

He was previously at Moneyfarm where he served as head of advisory. 

LGT Vestra 

The wealth firm made a double senior hire within its business development team. 

Former 7IM head of intermediary sales Robert Hardy will take on the role of business development director together with Victoria Barber, who takes on a similar role. 

Mediolanum Asset Management 

The European asset management platform of Mediolanum Banking Group has hired Barry Noonan as chief information officer, based in Dublin. 

He joins from Irish fintech firm Taxback International and will spearhead the Mediolanum’s IT strategy. 

Sparrows Capital 

Investment firm Sparrows Capital has poached David Ogden from 7IM to become its head of compliance. 

He worked at the research firm for 12 years. 

Share Centre 

Chief executive Richard Stone is stepping down after 14 years at the helm, following its acquisition by rival platform Interactive Investor (II), effective from 18 September. 

He will be replaced by II top boss Richard Wilson. 

HSBC Global Asset Management 

Philip Knuppel will take on the newly created role of head of ETF sales for Germany, Austria and Switzerland (Dach). 

Based in Frankfurt, he will be responsible for growing sales in the German-speaking region. 

Knuppel was previously at DWS where he served in senior positions including head of passive for Switzerland, Austria, Central Europe and the Middle East. 

Franklin Templeton 

In a drive to develop its Ucits ETF platform, Libertyshares, Franklin Templeton has hired Harriet Ssentongo as senior ETF sales specialist for the UK. 

She will be based in London and will be responsible for developing the platform for the UK, Channel Islands and Ireland. 

Ssentongo used to work as a director, Benelux and UK sales, at Hanetf. 

Cazenove Capital 

The UK wealth management subsidiary of Schroders has appointed two independent non-executive directors. 

Paul Drechsler and Charlie Porter will join the executive board. 

Drechsler is the former president of the Confederation of British industry (CBI), while Porter currently holds another independent non-executive directorship at BMO Asset Management. 

Carmignac 

Christof Kutscher will become a director at the European independent asset management firm. 

He is the chairman of HSBC Pollination Climate Asset Management and of Swiss private bank Bergos Berenberg.
