PEOPLE MOVES: Credit Suisse, Team AM, Vontobel Asset Management

Swiss banking giant bolsters international wealth arm, as Jersey firm names head of client relations

Credit Suisse

Christian Meissner has joined the Swiss giant as co-head of international wealth management investment banking advisory and vice chairman of investment banking.

Meissner will further develop and execute IWM’s strategy for entrepreneurial high net worth clients, providing them greater support and coverage with select investment banking opportunities.

He most recently served as head of global corporate and investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Team Asset Management

The Jersey-based independent wealth manager has named Richard Sayers as head of client relations.

Sayers was managing director for Singapore at professional services provider Equiom.

Prior to this, he was the founder of Enhance Group.

Vontobel Asset Management

Cristian Pappone has been appointed as head of global banks Switzerland.

He joins Vontobel from Zürcher Kantonalbank / Swisscanto Invest, where he acted as key account manager, head of wholesale Switzerland and global head sales.

WealthArc

The Swiss provider of an all-in-one automated portfolio management system for wealth managers has bolstered its offering with the opening of a Geneva office.

It has hired two sales managers to bolster the operation.

Frank Labrousse will be managing WealthArc’s collaboration with banks and data partners.

Etienne de Bejarry will be responsible for sales to wealth managers.

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

The UK lifeboat scheme has made two appointments to its executive team.

James Darbyshire and Debbie Stimpson have both joined as chief counsel and chief of staff, respectively.

Prior to his role at FSCS, Darbyshire worked in private practice, specialising in fraud and insolvency litigation, at the law firms Hogan Lovells and, subsequently, Eversheds Sutherland.

Stimpson joined FSCS in 2014 and previously had a 17-year career at Aviva.

The Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA)

The association has named Carol Young and Dave Coplin as non-executive directors (NED).

Both will be proposed for appointment for initial three years terms at the PLSA.

Butcher will also be proposed for reappointment as PLSA chair, extending his term for a further year until autumn 2021.

Shard Capital

The wealth and asset manager has named Ian Abrams to the board as an independent non-executive director.

He has around 50 years’ experience in the financial services sector.

Abrams also served for 20 years of as a member of the First and Upper Tiers of HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) hearing financial services and pensions cases, and for nine years as a member of The Financial Reporting Council Tribunal.

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI)

The professional body has elected three members to its board of directors and appointed one independent non-executive Director.

The members are:

  • Robert Hughes-Penney, investment director of Rathbone Brothers;
  • Graham Nicoll, head of regions for Barclays Wealth Management in the UK; and
  • Charles Ferry, managing director of wealth and investment at Brewin Dolphin.

Jane Valls will be the non-executive director.
