PEOPLE MOVES: CII, Aviva, Novia Financial

Professional body names interim chief executive, as CFO resigns from insurance giant

Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)

Jonathan Clark has been appointed interim chief executive with immediate effect.

He is a former president of both the CII and the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters.

Clark will stay with the CII until the permanent chief executive is in place, a process which is being led by chair Dr Helen Phillips and the CII board.

He takes over from Sian Fisher, who announced in October that she would be stepping down on 31 March 2022 after more than six years at the helm of the CII.

Fisher will stay with the organisation as planned until 31 March to ensure a smooth and orderly transition.

Aviva

Jason Windsor has resigned as chief financial officer and as a director of the insurer with effect from July 2022.

He will take up the position of chief financial officer at Persimmon.

Windsor will concentrate on the delivery of the company’s full year results, due on the 2 March.

The search for a new chief financial officer is underway, and Aviva said a further update will be issued “when appropriate”.

Novia Financial

The investment platform business has appointed Lynzi Harrison as chief operating officer.

Harrison joins Novia from LV=, where she was managing director of the heritage business.

Deutsche Bank

Michael Morley will step down from his role as chief executive of Deutsche Bank UK, according to an internal memo seen by International Adviser.

He was also head of its international private bank in the UK.

James Whittaker has been appointed as successor to Morley. Whittaker was head of the bank’s UK client coverage teams.

WH Ireland

The UK firm has named Michael Bishop as head of wealth management.

Bishop was a senior member of UBS’s wealth management business for over 20 years.

Manulife Investment Management

Marc Franklin has joined as managing director and senior portfolio manager of asset allocation based in Hong Kong.

He has 14 years of investment industry experience, most recently as head of flexible multi asset for NN Investment Partners.

Invesco

The investment firm has expanded its London-based ETF operation with the appointment of Tom Banks to the business development team.

Prior to joining Invesco, he worked in UK ETF sales at HSBC Asset Management.

VG

The Jersey trust solution provider has begun 2022 with a number of promotions across its funds, private client and corporate divisions.

VG’s private client team has seen three senior promotions, with Jane Hill and Sheena Huggett becoming associate directors.

Alongside them, Lada Yates becomes a manager, building on her existing 14 years of fiduciary experience with additional management responsibility in the team.

Also Tyler Hine and Renata Maletroit have been made trust administrators, while Sam Tumkaew steps up to the role of senior trust officer.

Meanwhile, in VG’s funds team, Paul Bulstrode, has been made a senior manager. Other promotions in the funds team include Stuart Andre, who has been promoted to assistant manager, Heather Rabet, who becomes a senior fund administrator, and Zach Ellam, who is promoted to fund administrator.

There have also been promotions in VG’s corporate team, with Callum Culf and Ricci Cook being elevated to senior trust officer and senior client reporting accountant respectively.

Boodle Hatfield

The law firm has named Clare Stirzaker as partner of its private client operation.

She will be joining Boodle Hatfield from PwC, where she led the private client legal team.

The Burnside Partnership

The law firm has named Joanna Ensor as senior solicitor to lead the growth of its private wealth offering in Marlow.

She has 15 years’ experience within the legal profession and qualified as a solicitor in January 2009.

Ocorian

The financial services group has bolstered its private clients team.

Ian Rumens joins Ocorian’s team as head of private clients for Jersey from Intertrust, where he was head of private wealth – Jersey.

Karl Bekusch joins Ocorian as executive director having most recently been head of private clients and family office in Jersey for Apex Group.

Karen O’Hanlon also joins from JTC, where she was most recently senior director.

Wealth Club

The high net worth investment service has hired Nicholas Hyett to join its investment research team.

He joins Wealth Club as an investment analyst after five years at Hargreaves Lansdown, most recently leading the company’s equity research team covering UK, US and European companies as well as acting as a spokesperson.
