PEOPLE MOVES: Cigna, Lombard Int’l, Woodford

Global health insurer Cigna has boosted its distribution platform in Asia Pacific with two senior hires. Lombard International Assurance has appointed a head of France, while Woodford has raided his alma mater Invesco Perpetual to find a head of third party relationships.

Cigna

Cigna has boosted its Asia Pacific distribution platform with two senior appointments. Ray Bond has been named regional head of distribution – Individual Health; while Raymond Ng has been appointed regional head of distribution – Global Health Benefits (GHB).

Based in Hong Kong, Bond and Ng joined Cigna’s Asia Pacific leadership team with effect from 14 February 2017 and 1 February 2017, respectively.

Bond joins from Axa where he most recently held the position of head of Asia, Axa Global Protect. Prior to that he spent nearly 10 years as head of sales, Asia Pacific at Bupa International.

Ng has worked at Cigna since 2010, starting as sales director, Singapore and subsequently becoming regional vice president, Asia Pacific GHB.

Lombard International Assurance

Lombard International has appointed David Liebmann as head of French market to further enhance the firm’s presence in the country, which is a key focus for growth during 2017. Based in Luxembourg, Liebmann has responsibility for the overall sales strategy for France.

Reporting to regional sales director for central and southern Europe, Luca Bertacchi, Liebmann has been tasked with developing new opportunities in France and growing business with new and existing distributers.

Liebmann was previously deputy head of sales for France and Monaco at Carmignac, where he was in charge of the distribution of Carmignac funds through private banks, discretionary wealth managers and family offices.

Woodford Investment Management

Woodford IM has recruited Tessa Thomson as its head of third party relationships. She will be reunited with her former colleague Neil Woodford on 26 June, having worked together during her 25 years at Invesco Perpetual.

At Woodford, Thomson will be responsible for all third party relationships, including the board of Woodford Patient Capital, non-executive directors, and partners Capita, Northern Trust and Deloitte.

Sanderson House

Wealth manager Saunderson House has appointed former Close Brothers Asset Management managing director Leigh Stephens as head of its new discretionary fund management service. He has been tasked with developing the DFM proposition across new and existing markets.

Stephens spent six years at Close Brothers AM, having previously worked at managing director level and in the DFM committees for Deutsche Bank Private Wealth and HSBC Private Bank Investments, as well as holding divisional director positions at Investec Wealth and Brewin Dolphin.

Tilney

Investment and financial planning group Tilney has recruited Tony Linnane as a financial planner for its Chelmsford office. Linnane joins from financial advice group Attivo where he was a chartered financial planner.

Prior to that, he worked as an adviser at SP Financial Planning and Lloyds Banking Group. Linnane has experience building relationships with HNW private clients and professional connections.

Gibraltar Financial Services Commission

GFSC has appointed Peter Isola as the new board member to fill the position left vacant at the beginning of March. Isola is the senior partner of Gibraltar law firm Isolas and has worked in the financial services sector all of his professional life; with particular emphasis in trust and corporate services and insurance.

Isola was the founder chairman of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, a former president of the Chamber of Commerce and advises HM Government of Gibraltar on a number of committees including a Brexit working group.

He is also a director of a number of gaming and financial services firms; including the Gibraltar International Bank.
