PEOPLE MOVES: Charles Stanley, Wealthify, VG

Wealth firm names head of asset management, while platform appoints CIO

Charles Stanley

The wealth manager hired Dan James as head of asset management.

In the newly created role, he will be responsible for building scale, growing revenue and driving further development of the firm’s division.

James was most recently at Aviva Investors, where he led the creation and management of the global fixed income division in multiple countries.

Wealthify

The digital investment platform has promoted David Semmens to chief investment officer.

He has served as head of investment strategy since 2018, and as interim chief investment officer since June 2020.

Michelle Pearce-Burke, co-founder of the firm and current chief operating officer, held the position until last year.

She will focus solely on her chief operating officer duties to support the firm’s growth plans.

VG

The Jersey-based provider of fiduciary and administration solutions has named Sheena Huggett as senior manager within its private client team.

She previously held a similar position at JTC Group.

The Exeter

The Life and health insurance provider has hired Isobel Langton as chief executive.

She will succeed outgoing boss Andy Chapman, who is looking to retire, from April 2021, subject to regulatory approval.

Most recently, Langton was chief executive of Royal London’s intermediary division.

Equiom

Melanie Griffiths will take on the role of head of client solutions in private wealth at the firm.

She joins from JP Morgan Chase, where she served as a private banker and executive director for 15 years.

Griffiths will work closely with the advisory community to deliver and expand Equiom’s private wealth offering.

Brown Shipley

The private bank has expanded its Birmingham office with two hires.

Dan Morris and Johnny McGrath have taken on the roles of client advisers.

McGrath previously held a similar role at UBS, while Morris served as a chartered financial planner at Smith & Williamson in Birmingham.

Ogier

Rachel Reynolds has been promoted to global senior partner at the financial services provider.

She has been at the firm for over 13 years, and most recently served as global head of dispute resolution.

Janus Henderson

The asset manager has appointed Alison Davies as an independent non-executive director, effective immediately.

She will serve as a member of the audit committee, the nominating and corporate governance committee, and the risk committee.

Westerby Investment Management

The Leicester-based wealth advice firm has recruited Glenn Stredder and Mike Callaghan as senior financial consultants.

Stredder and Callaghan both join from Berkley Burke, where they served as independent financial adviser and general practitioner, respectively.

Belmayne

The Dronfield-based financial planning business has hired Nick Baines as an independent financial adviser.

He joins from an unnamed Sheffield-based advisory firm, where he spent the last 18 years.
