Brown Shipley

Brown Shipley chief executive Alan Mathewson has raided his old employer to replace outgoing chief investment officer Don Smith.

Toby Vaughan will replace Smith, who is leaving the business at the end of September to “pursue other career opportunities”.

Vaughan will join from Santander Asset Management, where he is head of the multi-strategy solutions team.

In his new role, Vaughan will be responsible for Brown Shipley’s research and asset management unit, working closely with the firm’s 50 investment specialists.

Mathewson joined from Santander UK in April where he worked as managing director, wealth management and private banking.

Vaughan starts his new role in October 2018.

Highvern

Highvern Trustees has appointed Lucia Perchard as senior client director in its family office team.

She joins from fiduciary services business Zedra.

Jersey-based Highvern was spun out and rebranded from Coutts & Co Trustees, when the British bank disposed of its international business to Switzerland-based Union Bancaire Privee in 2016.

Perchard specialises in serving international wealthy families in the Middle East.

Fairstone

IFA consolidator Fairstone has appointed ex-Cofunds director Adam Smith as chief operating officer.

Smith takes up the role with immediate effect and will also join the Fairstone executive committee.

He will principally oversee the group’s investment management business, as well as its client and adviser propositions.

He will also have overall accountability for managing the firm’s relationships with external product providers.

Smith has previously worked as a commercial director at Old Mutual, Cofunds and Legal and General.

Tilney

In preparations for further acquisitions Tilney has appointed Andrew Baddeley as group chief financial officer from TP Icap, the London Stock Exchange-listed inter-dealer broker.

Prior to TP Icap, Baddeley held senior roles in the insurance sector, where he was also involved in mergers.
