Investment manager names CIO, while wealth firm makes c-suite change

Brooks Macdonald

The wealth manager has promoted Edward Park to chief investment officer with effect from 1 October 2020.

He will succeed Brooks Macdonald co-founder Richard Spencer, who will continue to serve his clients and act as senior adviser to the investment committee.

Park was appointed deputy chief investment officer in 2018.

Shard Capital

The wealth and asset manager has appointed Martin Bradbrook as chief operating officer and Richard Bacon as head of sales and business development.

Bradbrook previously worked at Dolfin Financial as head of operations and IT.

Bacon was most recently vice president at Pimco, where he was responsible for shaping and implementing the sales strategy for the UK business.

Raffles Family Office

The family office has appointed Danny Wong as a Hong Kong-based managing director, according to the firm’s Linkedin page.

Wong was previously at Standard Chartered Bank, where he spent his entire professional career for 31 years.

Carrick Wealth

The South African wealth management and financial services firm has appointed Anton Schoeman to its senior management team as general manager for the western Cape.

Schoeman previously held senior positions at ABSA Wealth, Standard Bank Wealth and Stonehage Fleming.

Brown Shipley

The UK private bank has hired Matt Hoyne and Gerard Wilson to its Edinburgh office.

Hoyne will be head of the office and was previously a director at UBS Wealth Management in Edinburgh.

Wilson will work closely alongside Hoyne to deliver business growth for Brown Shipley in Scotland.

Most recently, Wilson was a director at UBS Wealth Management in Edinburgh.

Hawksmoor Investment Management

The investment firm has named Neal Smith as head of distribution for south west and Wales.

Smith was most recently head of sales for south west and wales at Parmenion.

Tribe Impact Capital

The UK wealth manager has hired Katharine Samuels, Aaron Gaide and Cate Quentin as wealth managers.

Samuels joins Tribe from Barclays Wealth, where she was a vice president in the special focus team for three years.

Before Tribe, Gaide was managing director at Pacer Financial in San Francisco.

Quentin joins from Standard Bank Group, where she spent seven years as a wealth manager specialising in high net worth individuals from, or operating in, west Africa.

Personal Finance Society

Damien Rylett, chief executive of Brunel Capital Partners, has been named chair of the PFS’ practitioner panel.

He replaces Sharon Sutton, former president of the PFS and managing director of Thornton Chartered Financial Planners, who is stepping down as chair of the panel after three years.

Brendan O’Ciobain, managing director of Phoenix Wealth Management, and Julie Lord, chief executive of Magenta Financial Planning, are also stepping down as panel members.

Alasdair Walker Hunter, managing director of Aitkenhead & Walker Ltd, will become vice-chair of the panel.

Also joining the panel this year are Jane Gow, director at Clear Cut Financial Planning, as well as Sarah Elson, director at Berry & Oak.

Nedbank Private Wealth

The wealth firm has named Andrew Corlett and Jeremy Wilson as independent non-executive directors.

Corlett served as chairman and managing director of the legal and professional services group Cains from 1998 to June 2018.

He has also been appointed as chairman of the board for the company’s trust business, Nedgroup Trust.

Wilson recently retired as vice chairman of Barclays Corporate with Barclays Bank.

Also, John Harris, who joined the Nedbank Private Wealth board last year as a non-executive director, has also joined the board of Nedgroup Trust.

Jersey Finance

Jason Laity has been appointed chairman of the island’s financial services promotional body.

He was previously chairman and senior partner of KPMG in the Channel Islands until 30 September 2019.

His most recent role was head of fintech for Digital Jersey, a position where he was responsible for spearheading the fintech agenda for Jersey.

Laity will relinquish that position before taking up this role.
