PEOPLE MOVES: Beaufort Financial, Barclays, Brown Shipley

Wealth firm hires head of advice, while private bank creates global family office role

Beaufort Financial 

The wealth firm has appointed Luke Mason as head of advice. 

He will take over from Niall Humphreys, who is retiring after more than 35 years in the industry. 

Mason joins from Retirement Line where he served as head of sales. 

Barclays Private Bank 

Two senior hires join the private banking arm of Barclays. 

Effie Datson has taken on the role of global head of family office and Melanie Aimer will become global head of client experience. 

They join from UBP and BNP Paribas Asset Management, respectively.

In her newly created role, Datson will be responsible for building, managing and growing the global family office segment; whereas Aimer will support the private bank’s growth plans for client experience.

Brown Shipley 

The Quintet Private Bank-owned wealth firm has named Fiona Woodhouse as chief risk officer. 

She was previously at Quilter Investor where she held a similar role. 

Woodhouse will be responsible for building risk functions as well as overseeing risk management operations.   

Copia Capital Management

Robert Vaudry has been appointed to the newly created position of managing director at the discretionary fund management (DFM) firm.

Reporting to chief executive Bill Vasilieff,  Vaudry was previously chief investment officer at Wesleyan Assurance Society and chief executive of Wesleyan Unit Trust Managers.

He has over 30 years’ experience in financial services and started his career as a political and economic analyst for former prime minister Sir Edward Heath.

Copia also announced the promotion of Hoshang Daroga to senior portfolio manager and the recruitment of Tony Hick as investment specialist, who was previously group head od sales at The Beaufort Group.

Lloyds Banking Group 

Group chief executive Antonio Horta-Osorio will step down from the top job in 2021. 

He will stay at the firm for the next year, aiming to retire in June, to provide a smooth transition and allow the group to find a replacement.  

RBC Wealth Management 

Two senior bankers have joined RBC’s wealth management arm in Singapore. 

Ada Chan has become a senior director, while Cheryl Ong has taken on the role of director. 

They were previously at UBS in Hong Kong and CA Indosuez, respectively. 

Chan and Ong will focus on clients’ end-to-end wealth management needs in Asia.  

Close Brothers Asset Management 

The asset management firm has named two managing directors. 

Helen Gerrard and Nick Jackson will be focusing on the expansion of the company’s investment management offering to high net worth clients in the north west. 

They both join from Rathbones where they provided similar services in the region.  

Kingswood 

Kingswood’s managing director of investment management has left after more than six years at the company. 

Jeff Hodgetts has become a partner at Partners Wealth Management.

GAM 

Jeremy Roberts has been hired as head of global distribution at Gam Investments. 

He joins from Blackrock where he served as co-head of Emea retail sales and head of the UK retail business. 

Rathbones 

Rathbones has expanded its discretionary fund management sales team. 

Peter Hooker joins as a DFM specialist within the distribution team, focusing on the eastern regions. 

He was most recently working as a business development manager at City Asset Management. 

Brooks Macdonald 

The investment management firm has made three senior hires. 

Lynsey Cross has become chief operating officer; she held a similar position at Amtrust International. 

Chris Bishun has taken on the role of investment solutions director, having previously worked at Blackrock and Barclays Wealth. 

Lastly, Stewart Sanderson has been hired as a senior investment director in Brooks Macdonald’s London office. He joins from 7IM where he was a managing director. 

Interactive Investor 

UK-based platform Interactive Investor has recruited Libby Jones as chief people officer and Anna Clifford as head of talent to drive the firm’s expansion. 

Jones has extensive experience within human resource strategies having previously worked at the John Lewis Partnership for over 15 years. 

Clifford was most recently UK senior talent and youth programme manager for Vodafone.
