PEOPLE MOVES: Barings, BNP Paribas, PraxisIFM

Baring Asset Management’s heads of EMEA wholesale distribution and global marketing have left the business. BNP Paribas AM has a new Asia Pacific head of institutional sales and currencies portfolio manager. Channel Islands-based PraxisIFM is focusing on client risk with its latest promotion.

Baring Asset Management

Baring AM’s head of EMEA wholesale distribution, Rod Aldridge, has reportedly left the firm after nine years. He joined Barings as head of UK wholesale distribution from Gartmore Investment Management in 2008, where was head of UK retail distribution.

Michael Evans, Baring AM’s head of global marketing, has also left the firm having only joined from Legg Mason Global Asset Management in December 2015. Evans started his career at Fidelity International, before joining Schroders in 1991. After two years at BNY Mellon, he moved to Legg Mason, where he worked for 14 years.

BNP Paribas Asset Management

Mark Speciale has been named Asia Pacific head of institutional sales. He has been tasked with developing and managing the buildout of the company’s institutional sales strategy and client relationship management for the region, including markets under Greater China.

His focus is on strengthening existing and building new partnerships with institutional investors such as central banks, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and insurance companies.

In addition, Simeon Tsonev has been appointed currencies portfolio manager within BNP Paribas AM’s emerging markets fixed income team. In this nearly-created role, Tsonev will be responsible for alpha-generating decisions within EM currencies. He will be based in London and report to Bryan Carter, head of EM fixed income.

PraxisIFM

Financial services group PraxisIFM has promoted Caron Wallace to associate director with responsibility for overseeing the internal audit team, which conducts client entity risk reviews.

Additionally, she will provide guidance and assistance with the management of data protection issues and ensure compliance with Fatca and CRS onboarding and reporting.

Kempen Capital Management

Guy Beech has been named director of business development family offices to lead Kempen’s drive into the UK family office segment. He will join the firms team of 20 London-based investment professionals.

Beech has worked in the asset management industry for 30 years, having previously held senior positions at Threadneedle, Henderson, and Stamford Associates – where he was focused on selling investment strategies, as well as investment solutions.

Heritage Group

Peter Droussiotis has joined Heritage Group’s board of directors as non-executive chairman with immediate effect. A barrister by training, he is founder and chairman of City-based insurance and financial services specialist corporate finance and strategy consulting firm PGD Strategy.

Droussiotis has a wealth of experience and connections in the insurance and financial services sectors in the UK and internationally. He has a track record of success in mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory services and corporate governance.

Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA)

The PLSA has appointment Caroline Escott as defined benefit and investment policy lead – reporting to head of governance & investment Joe Dabrowski.

In her new role, Escott will lead the association’s investment related public policy, research and publication work. She will focus on promoting a sustainable, long-term investment environment for members while supporting the broad aim of improving the value received by pension’s investors.

Prior to joining the PLSA, she worked as a senior policy adviser for PIMFA – Personal Investment Management & Financial Advice Association (formerly APFA). She has also worked at Hume Brophy, the UK Sustainable Investment & Finance Association (UKSIF) and as a parliamentary researcher.

Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI)

Edward Loader, the co-founder and managing director of Integritas Wealth Partners, has been appointed president of the CISI Jersey branch.

He has over 10 years’ wealth management experience, working with private clients and intermediaries in developing investment and holistic wealth solutions. Before establishing Integritas, his most recent role had been as a director in the investments department of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Wealth Management, moving to Jersey in 2013 from RBC’s London office.
