PEOPLE MOVES: Axa, HSBC, JP Morgan

Axa Life Insurance has lost its head of international brokers in Singapore, while the private banking arms of HSBC and JP Morgan have named regional heads of various European countries.

Axa Life Insurance

Axa has confirmed to International Adviser that Nick Glover, head of international brokers for Axa Life Insurance Singapore, has left the business.

Our sister publication, Fund Selector Asia reported last week that Glover may have left Axa to join St James’s Place. At the time of publication, the wealth manager had not responded to requests for confirmation.   

HSBC Private Bank

HSBC Private Bank has appointed Mark Fitzgerald as regional head of investment services & product solutions for the UK, Channel Islands, France and Germany. Having started his career as an adviser to high net worth individuals, Fitzgerald was most recently managing director in a multi-asset hedge fund team at BlackRock.  

Based in London, he will be responsible for delivering the wealth strategy of the private bank, and manage local teams providing investment strategy, investment counselling, discretionary portfolio management, trading, and family governance services. 

JP Morgan Private Bank

Oliver Gregson has been named head of the JP Morgan Private Bank’s United Kingdom and Nordics markets. Based in London, Gregson will oversee the firm’s wealth management operations in the two regions and drive its overall strategy and growth. He will report to Pablo Garnica, chief executive of JP Morgan Private Bank’s Europe, Middle East & Africa (Emea) region.

Gregson was previously head of HSBC’s Private Bank Investment Group. Before that he managed sales, product and discretionary investments at Barclays Wealth and held leadership positions at UBS Wealth Management and Citigroup Private Bank.

Vanguard

Vanguard has appointed Sebastian Külps as head of business development for Germany. In this newly-created position, Külps will be responsible for building out Vanguard’s presence in Germany and exporting its proposition as a high-value, low-cost provider of investments and services.

He joins from Oddo Seydler Bank, where he was head of securities and brings with him over 20 years’ experience in financial services, having previously held roles at Kepler Cheuvreux, Deutsche Bank, and JP Morgan.

Deutsche Bank

Deutsche Bank has appointed Thomas Piquemal as chief country officer for France, in addition to his role as global head of mergers & acquisitions, effective 1 March 2017.

Piquemal succeeds Bruno Hallak, who has decided to leave the bank to pursue other interests.

In his new role, Piquemal will oversee all of the group’s activities in Paris, which include Corporate & Investment Banking, Global Markets, Deutsche Asset Management and Deutsche Bank Wealth Management.

Rowan Dartington

Rowan Dartington has hired two Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) accredited investment managers to reinforce its teams in London and Manchester.

James Lewis joins from HSBC Discretionary Wealth Management where he was a client director responsible. Before that, he worked for Newton Investment Management and NatWest Stockbrokers. Lewis is joining a 10-strong team of investment managers in London.

In Manchester, Dominic Hughes is joining from Quilter Cheviot where he worked as an investment director since 2000. With over 16 years’ experience managing wealth in the northwest of England, Hughes’s mission will be to develop Rowan Dartington’s presence in the region and manage relationships with clients, financial advisers and the St. James’s Place Partnership.

Waverton Investment Management

Waverton has confirmed the appointment of Luke Hyde-Smith as portfolio manager, head of third party fund selection with immediate effect. 

He joins from Brompton Asset Management where he built and developed the collective investment selection process with responsibility for managing a range of multi-asset strategies.

Hyde-Smith has over 13 years’ experience in fund management.  Prior to joining Brompton in 2009, he was a fund analyst at New Star and previously at SG Private Bank.
