In a move to simplify its operating model the AXA group has made several new senior appointments, Nikko Asset Management has appointed a new EMEA chief executive and PGIM investments has named a new global chief marketing officer.

Axa Group                     

Axa Group has made a number of new senior appointments as part of its initiative to simplify its operating model in order to accelerate transformation.

The model, once implemented, will see the AXA Group organised based on five regions: France, Europe, the US, Asia, and International, and a single, refocused Corporate Centre.

To steer this operating model to achieve the objectives of Ambition 2020, a new Management Committee, reporting to Thomas Buberl, with the following members:

  • Gérald Harlin, chief financial officer, has been appointed deputy chief executive, in addition to his current responsibilities;
  • George Stansfield, general secretary, has been appointed deputy chief executive, in addition to his current responsibilities;
  • Benoît Claveranne, has been appointed chief executive international and new markets;
  • Mark Pearson, chief executive of AXA US;
  • Jacques de Peretti, chairman and chief executive of AXA France.

Four new members join the management committee:

  • Alban de Mailly Nesle, who remains group chief risk officer and takes on the additional responsibility of the new Group Insurance office;
  • Antimo Perretta, who is appointed chief executive Europe;
  • Astrid Stange, who is appointed chief operating officer;
  • Gordon Watson, who will join the management committee on 1 January, 2018, in the role of chief executive Asia.

Nikko Asset Management

Nikko Asset Management has announced two new senior appointments.

Current Nikko Asset Management Europe Limited chairman John Howland-Jackson has been appointed EMEA chief executive, subject to Financial Conduct Authority approval.

Based in London, Howland-Jackson will be responsible for all aspects of the Firm’s business across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

Howland-Jackson joined Nikko as EMEA vice chairman in 2014, he is a seasoned banked with more than 40 years of commercial and investment banking experience.

At the same time, Nikko AM group head of consultant relations Ian Lewis has been appointed head of EMEA Sales and global head of consultant relations.

Lewis has almost thirty years of industry experience, he joined Nikko in October 2014 as group head of consultant relations in Singapore.

He will also be based in London and effective 1 December 2017.

Columbia Threadneedle Investments

The global asset management group has appointed Lorenzo Garcia as head of EMEA Client Investment Solutions.

Garcia is based in London, reporting to Jeff Knight, Global Head of Investment Solutions and Mark Burgess, deputy global chief investment officer.

At Columbia Threadneedle Garcia will be working with the global investment team to deliver investment solutions to clients in EMEA.

Garcia brings 17 years’ investment experience, including a 12-year career with BlackRock Investment Managers where his most recent role was head of EMEA institutional and retail portfolio management, ETF and Index Investments, overseeing more than £370bn within 170 portfolios.

Adams Street Partners

Adams Street Partners, a private markets investment management firm, has announced that James Walker is joining the firm as a partner and chief operating officer.

Walker will report to Jeff Diehl, managing partner and head of investments, and will join the executive committee of the firm, he will also chair the firm’s operating committee.

Walker has more than 30 years of senior executive leadership experience in the wealth management and asset management industries. Before joining Adams Street, he was chief operating officer at Credit Suisse Private Bank Americas.

PGIM Investments

PGIM Investments has named Sheri Taylor Gilchrist global chief marketing officer, charged with helping to drive the company’s strategy to expand globally.

Gilchrist, former managing director and global head of marketing services at Bank of New York Mellon, is the company’s first-ever global CMO, hired to propel business strategy through initiatives that support its U.S. mutual fund and global UCITS platforms, which have $96bn in assets under management, as of 30 Sept 2017.
