Insurance giant names chief executive of UK & Ireland, as wealth firm makes c-suite hire

Aviva

The financial services giant has hired Doug Brown as chief executive of UK and Ireland life insurance.

Brown is currently chief executive of Canada Life in the UK and will join Aviva’s group executive committee.

He is expected to join Aviva in April 2021.

Brown succeeds Angela Darlington who has decided to move away from corporate life and will leave Aviva in April 2021.

Tilney Smith & Williamson

The UK wealth manager has named Simonetta Rigo as chief marketing officer.

In this newly created role, Rigo joins the group executive committee.

Until recently, Rigo worked at Tesco Bank as interim chief customer pfficer and latterly as an adviser to the chief executive.

Mirabaud Asset Management

The investment arm of the Mirabaud Group has strengthened its relationship management team with the hiring of Jérôme Paganini as head of sales for Switzerland.

Joining from Silex Investment Partners, Paganini has more than a decade of asset management sales experience.

Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)

The UK watchdog has appointed Sheldon Mills as the executive director, consumers and competition, and Siobhán Sheridan as chief people officer.

Mills was formerly interim executive director, strategy and competition.

Sheridan joins the FCA from the Ministry of Defence, where she has been leading an HR team.

She will take up her post from the end of March 2021.

Vontobel Asset Management

The firm has named Goji Yoshino as Japan head as it opens office in the country.

He joins Vontobel from BlueBay Asset Management.

Axa Investment Managers (Axa IM)

Nigel Yates will become portfolio manager, strengthening the Axa IM Framlington UK equities team, effective 11 January 2021.

Prior to joining Axa IM, Yates worked at NFU Mutual.
