Aviva
The global insurer has appointed Erica Arnold as chief operating officer.
Arnold will join Aviva in early 2020 and report to chief executive Maurice Tulloch.
She is currently at Zurich Insurance, where she holds the role of chief group enterprise services officer.
After six years at Aviva, Nick Amin will move on from his role as group chief operations and IT officer to support the strategic review work in Asia.
Sun Life
Léo Grépin will become president of Sun Life Asia following the retirement of Claude Accum on 31 December 2019.
Grepin will be responsible for life, health and wealth management businesses in seven Asian markets – the Philippines, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and India – as well as the international high net worth business.
He was prevoiusly Sun Life’s president of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, a role he started in April 2019.
Stonehage Fleming
The independently owned international family office has named Chris Merry as group chief executive officer.
Merry will be based in London and joins from fund administration service provider Ipes, where he was chief executive.
He will be taking over from Giuseppe Ciucci, who has been Stonehage Fleming group chief executive since 1997.
Ciucci will remain in a full-time executive capacity as managing partner and will also become deputy chairman of the board.
Brooks Macdonald
The investment manager has hired nine people to join its ranks across the UK.
Gary Stirrup has joined as national sales manager, responsible for UK sales with a focus on developing and growing IFA relationships.
Stirrup has more than 20 years’ experience in investment management, starting his career at Friends Provident in 1992, and has since led high-performance sales teams at Old Mutual and, most recently, at Fidelity Funds Network.
Thomas Ball and Philip Penrose join as business development managers in its East Anglia and Manchester offices, respectively.
Ball joins from Prospect Wealth Management, where he was most recently head of business development, while Penrose joins from MitonOptimal UK, where he was head of UK sales.
Also, the firm hired Liam Pryce-Jones as a senior investment director and head of Hampshire.
Paul Heath and Nick Dunn join the Edinburgh office as a portfolio director and investment director, respectively.
Martin Gierach joins the Cardiff team as a portfolio director and Anthony Clark joins the Taunton office as an investment director.
Schroders
Charles Prideaux has been named global head of investment at the global asset manager.
Separately, Johanna Kyrklund has been appointed group chief investment officer in addition to her existing role as global head of multi-asset investments.
Also, Carolina Minio-Paluello has joined from Lombard Odier Investment Managers as global head of product, solutions and quant.
In this role, Minio-Paluello will take oversight of its quantitative investment teams.
John Troiano, global head of distribution, will retire after 38 years with the firm.
Lieven Debruyne, who has been leading the firm’s business strategy in Asia Pacific over the past 14 years, will become global head of distribution.
Debruyne will continue in his position as chief executive of Asia Pacific until a successor is appointed. At that time, he will relocate from Hong Kong to London.
Jupiter
The asset manager has appointed John Tevenan to the newly created role of global head of financial institutions group.
Tevenan, who is currently head of UK sales, has been with Jupiter since 2010 and has worked in the industry for 28 years.
Jupiter will appoint a head of UK sales in due course, and in the meantime, Tevenan will continue to oversee the UK team.
Matteo Dante Perruccio, current head of global key clients and strategic partners, has decided to leave the company.
Perruccio has been involved with the company since September 2008.
Generali Group
The Italian firm’s asset and wealth management operation has named Daniel Charles Roy as head of business development and M&A.
Roy will report to the group chief investment officer and chief executive of asset and wealth management, Timothy Ryan, and joins from La Banque Postale, where he was the chief executive of LBP Asset Management.
Alan Cauberghs has also been appointed as head of Generali Private Assets.
He reports to the head of Generali Asset Management Partners, Carlo Trabattoni, and joins from Schroders, where he was head of private assets.
Kairos
Fabio Bariletti has decided to step down as chief executive of Kairos Partners and Kairos Investment Management, the Italian wealth subsidiary of Julius Baer.
He will be replaced on an interim basis by Fabrizio Rindi, currently chairman of Kairos Partners, until a replacement can be found.
Credit Suisse
James Gifford has joined the Swiss bank in the newly created role of head of impact advisory.
Gifford is responsible for advising Credit Suisse’s private wealth clients globally and joins from UBS, where he was previously head of impact investing within its wealth management division.
Cohen & Steers
The asset management firm hires Daniel Charles as head of global distribution, serving both the institutional and intermediary markets across all regions.
Charles joins from William Blair, where he was head of global distribution.
London & Capital
The wealth and asset manager has named Simon Reed as executive director within the private investment office.
Reed joins from Enhance Investment Consultancy, where he was a director.
Julius Baer
The Swiss wealth manager has hired 10 people in Madrid to bolster its Portugal operation. All hires join from Credit Suisse.
José Maria do Cazal-Ribeiro has been hired as market head of Portugal, while Gonçalo Maleitas Correia will be team head of Portugal domestic.
It named Gonçalo Pinto Basto, Francisco Pimentel, Gonçalo Viana de Sousa, Luis Barata and Salvador Roque de Pinho as senior relationship managers.
Also, Luis Barreto Xavier joins as investment consultant, and Ana Maria Da Silva and Maria João Abreu will be assistant relationship managers.
CFA Institute
The global association of investment management professionals has named Margaret Franklin as president and chief executive.
Diane Nordin has become chair of the board of governors, and Daniel Gamba now serves as vice chair of the board of governors.
Franklin was most recently president of BNY Mellon Wealth Management in Canada and head of international wealth management in North America.
Chase de Vere
The IFA firm has hired Gary Cairns as senior manager for its Leeds and Sheffield offices.
He was most recently at HSBC, where he managed a team which gave financial planning advice to clients in Yorkshire.
Tilney
UK wealth manager has recruited Vincent Keane and Laura Ingram as financial planner and financial planning director in Cambridge, respectively.
Ingram was previously at NW Brown in Cambridge and Keane previously worked on a self-employed basis advising clients primarily on retirement planning.
