Singapore insurer names group CEO, while UK investment company hires executive director

Aviva Singlife

The life insurer has recruited Pearlyn Phau Yee Meng as group chief executive and executive director.

The appointment will be effective from 18 August 2021, subject to regulatory approval.

She will also take on the roles of executive director and chief executive officer of both the group’s Singapore licensed insurers, also subject to regulatory approval.

Phau Yee Meng is currently group head of consumer products, marketing and ecosystem partnerships at DBS.

River and Mercantile Group

Alex Hoctor-Duncan has been named as executive director for strategic development at the investment group.

He is currently global head of Aberdeen Standard Investments and will join the company later this year.

AssetCo

The wealth firm hired Gary Collins as head of distribution.

He joins from Columbia Threadneedle Investments, where he had a similar role, focusing on Emea and Latin America.

Saranac Partners

The chief executive of the London-based private office will step down.

Tanvi Davda was one of the founding partners, has been part of the leadership team since business was set up in 2015, and was promoted to the top job in 2017.

She will remain on the board as a non-executive director and become an adviser to the firm.

IM Global

The global asset management network has recruited Alexandra Nallet as group chief compliance officer.

She was previously at Candriam where she served as global head of compliance and US chief compliance officer.

RBS International

Robert Jarvis has become business development director at RBS International in Luxembourg.

He takes on the newly created role after spending four years at the National Development Agency for the Financial Centre in Luxembourg to support its growth and development.

Blackfinch

The investment firm has hired James Ramsay to bolster its strategic partnerships team.

He becomes director of strategic partnerships and the City to monitor, review and select tax efficient products and provide support to financial advisers.

He joins from tax efficient investment platform Kuber, where he oversaw the implementation of adviser support initiatives.

HSBC Asset Management

The asset manager has hired a ‘climatech’ team to boost its investment in climate technology, part of its alternatives strategy.

The team will be tasked with developing a venture capital investment strategy to provide clients with opportunities to invest in global technology start-ups that are addressing the challenges of climate change.

It is made up of head of climate technology venture investments Christophe Defert, who joins from Centrica after spending 10 years at the firm; and investment director for climate technology Michael D’Aurizio, who previously led Centrica Innovations’ US activities.

Fidelity International

Rosanna Burcheri has taken on the role of portfolio manager at the global asset manager.

She will start at the firm from 1 September 2021 and will join the US equity team to manage the Fidelity Funds – America Fund and the Fidelity America Special Situations.

She is currently at Artemis serving as an FE Alpha manager.
