Architas

Adrian Lowcock is leaving Architas at the end of June to join platform provider Willis Owen as head of personal investing, our sister publication Portfolio Adviser revealed on Tuesday.

Prior to joining Architas in August 2016, which is part of the Axa Group, Lowcock was head of investing at Axa Wealth. He has also worked at Hargreaves Lansdown as a senior research analyst and investment commentator, and at Tilney Bestinvest as head of PR and communications.

Willis Owen is a DIY platform provider founded in 1982, offering clients ISAs, Junior ISAs, general investment accounts and Sipps, as well as access to funds, shares, ETFs and investment trusts.

Macquarie Investment Management

Macquarie IM has made two senior leadership appointments in Hong Kong. Carl Jacobsohn has been named head of the Asia business, succeeding Axel Maier who retired from the firm earlier this year.

Jacobsohn has been with Macquarie IM for more than 10 years, most recently as head of the Korea business. He is responsible for leading the strategy for the region, providing oversight of the distribution function, and supporting the regional and global needs of the business. In addition to his new responsibilities, he continues to lead the Macquarie Investment Management Korea business.

Bas van Buuren will join the firm in late June as head of Asia distribution and brings with him more than 18 years’ experience in similar roles. Reporting to Jacobsohn, van Buuren will focus on the distribution strategy in Asia.

He previously worked for Aegon Asset Management as the regional head in Asia. Before joining Aegon, he held a variety of leadership roles with ING Investment Management, most recently as head of the Asia client group.

South Africa Revenue Service

The acting commissioner of South Africa’s tax authority has had his appointment extended for an additional 90 days.

Mark Kingon was given the temporary assignment in March after Tom Moyane, a Jacob Zuma appointee, was suspended following allegations of maladministration.

A permanent replacement cannot be named until Moyane formally leaves office. However, as long as he is on suspension, the role is not technically vacant and a new commissioner cannot be appointed.

As Moyane is contesting his suspension, the role cannot be filled for more than 90 days at a time.

BNP Paribas Asset Management

BNPP AM has named Fabien Madar as co-head of distribution Europe covering southern Europe, within BNPP AM’s Global Client Group.

Madar will report to Sandro Pierri, global head of Client Group. He will join BNPP AM in July 2018 and will be based in Paris.

Most recently, he was general manager & head of institutional business in Europe for Pioneer Investments’ French business prior to its acquisition by Amundi. He was additionally involved in Pioneer’s distribution activities in Benelux, Switzerland and the Nordics. He joined in 2008 from NN IP.

Hermes Investment Management

The management firm has expanded its Responsibility Office with the appointment of Ingrid Holmes and Kate Fowler. The office coordinates, develops and supports the implementation of Hermes IM’s responsible investment and stewardship policies.

Holmes joins from E3G – Third Generation Environmentalism, where she was a director, responsible for managing strategic institutional relationships with government, European and international institutions. Prior to this, she was head of Policy for the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy.

Fowler joins as an analyst, responsible for supporting the development and articulation of Hermes’ internal policy, external advocacy positions and consultation response across diverse topics.  She was previously a member of the Projects and Operations team at A Blueprint for Better Business, developing the charities’ stance on a range of ESG and business issues.

Columbia Threadneedle Investments

Victor Rozental has joined Columbia Threadneedle Investments as sales director Nordics (Wholesale), based in Stockholm. Rozental joins on 25 June 2018 and will be responsible for promoting the firm’s range of funds and capabilities in the region.

Rozental joins from Schroders Investment Management, where he spent eight years, latterly as client director for the Swedish institutional and intermediary markets.

He will report to Gary Collins, Columbia Threadneedle’s head of Wholesale Distribution, Emea and Latin America.
