Amundi
Valerie Baudson, Amundi’s chief executive, exchange traded funds, indexing and smart beta, has been appointed chief executive of subsidiary CPR Asset Management. She has been at Amundi since 2013 and is also a member of its executive committee.
In addition, CPR has promoted Emmanuelle Court and Arnaud Faller to deputy chief executive roles, heading up business development and investments, respectively.
Nadine Lamotte has been named as chief operating officer, responsible for financial and administration.
Along with head of marketing and communications Gilles Cutaya, those named above will make up CPR’s management committee.
Cazenove Capital Management
Caspar Rock is leaving Architas to join Cazenove Capital Management as its new chief investment officer in the third quarter of the year. He will report to Cazenove chief executive Andrew Ross.
Prior to Architas, Rock was head of the multi-manager business at Axa Framlington from 2006 to 2008. Before that he ran a range of directly invested equity and bond portfolios, and was head of European equities at Framlington, as well as being a member of the healthcare team.
The company also announced that Richard Jeffrey will assume the role of chief economist.
Northern Trust Asset Management
Northern Trust has promoted John McCareins to lead its asset management business across Asia Pacific. Relocating from Chicago to Hong Kong, McCareins will be responsible for overseeing the company’s activities across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
Currently head of the retirement practice outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO) business within Northern Trust’s multi manager solutions group, McCareins has been with the firm for more than 10 years.
He replaces Bo Kratz who left late last year to become chief executive Asia Pacific of US insurance asset and risk manager, Conning.
Al Hilal (formerly Legal & General Gulf)
Peter Drummond, chief executive at Al Hilal, will be leaving the company with plans to return to a role within the international life company sector in the near future.
Drummond joined the Bahrain-based life company from Dubai, having previously worked at Friends Provident International as global partnerships director.
L&G Gulf and L&G Takaful were renamed to Al Hilal Life and AL Hilal Takaful respectively from 1 April.
UBS
Investment banking veteran Tracey Woon is leaving Citi after 12 years to join Swiss banking group UBS.
Woon will start in the third quarter as vice chairman for UBS wealth management in Asia and report to head of global ultra-high-net-worth Joe Stadler and Edmund Koh, Asia-Pacific head of wealth management.
Legal & General
Matt Wilmington has been appointed director of strategic transactions of Legal & General’s pension risk transfer business. He will be leading on strategic longevity, buy-in and buy-out transactions, focusing particularly on the company’s large multinational client relationships.
He joins L&G from Aon Hewitt, where he undertood a variety of roles over 15 years, most recently as partner in Aon’s risk settlement group.
Standard Life Wealth
Standard Life Wealth has appointed Gair Brisbane as senior client portfolio manager with a focus on the charity sector. He will be based in Edinburgh, reporting to Mike Connor, head of the Edinburgh office.
He joins from Brown Shipley Private Bank where he specialised in charity investment management, prior to which he worked at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, where he also focused on charity, and private clients.
Before moving into investment management, Brisbane was a regional director for the Royal Air Forces Association charity and is a trustee of the Officer’s Association Scotland military charity.
Rowan Dartington
Rowan Dartington has bolstered its UK equity research team over the past 12 months with four hires to support anticipated future growth following its acquisition by St James’s Place last year.
Working into investment director Tim Cockerill, former Charterhouse Capital Partners private equity research manager Gary Sunderland will lead the team. Jeremy Browne, Clementine Dymond and Andrew Wace have also joined respectively from Fairfax, Whiteford Wealth Management and Axa Investment Managers and will be based in London.
