Jeremy Gleeson will join AllianzGI

AllianzGI

Former Axa IM fund manager Jeremy Gleeson will join AllianzGI at the end of August to head up the firm’s newly launched global technology equity team.

He spent 17 years at Axa and managed the £1.2bn Axa Framlington Global Technology fund since joining the firm in June 2007. He exited in June this year.

The team he will head up will feed input into AllianzGI’s strategies with exposure to the tech sector.

Alongside Gleeson, AllianzGI senior US tech analyst Sunil George will join the team, while the firm said it expects to add a further new hire in the autumn.

Invesco

The firm has dropped the ESG mandate on its Invesco Sustainable UK Companies fund as its manager, Tim Marshall, departs the firm.

It rebranded the UK equity fund to a sustainable strategy in 2022 when ESG investing was in the throes of popularity, but the acronym has fallen somewhat out of favour in recent years as fears of greenwashing have emerged.

John Surplice, head of EMEA equities at Invesco, said the decision to drop its sustainable focus was “a result of changing demand from clients”.

Quilter

The wealth manager has appointed Sarah Houlston as chief operating officer from 2 September.

Houlston will join the Quilter executive committee, succeeding Karin Cook, who is set to retire.

Houlston has 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. Her career spans retail and corporate banking as well as wealth management. Most recently, she served as chief operating officer for RBC Brewin Dolphin.

Cook will remain with the company to work through a handover period before her retirement begins at the end of 2024.

AVI

Asset Value Investors (AVI) has hired Helen Mattia from abrdn as head of investment trust sales and relations.

Mattia started at AVI earlier this month, following a five-year career at abrdn where she became investor relations and close end funds sales director and oversaw sales strategies for six investment trusts. Before abrdn, she held roles at Peel Hunt and Winterflood Securities.

In her new position, Mattia will support investment trust sales across AVI, which manages close end funds including the AVI Global trust, AVI Japan Opportunity trust, and the MIGO Opportunities trust.

Nuveen

The asset manager has appointed Laura Cooper to spearhead the development of its fixed income strategy.

As a global investment strategist, she will give guidance on global market trends, macroeconomics and asset allocation strategies – especially in regard to G10 rates and currencies – to assist Nuveen’s growing fixed income offering.

Cooper joins from BlackRock, where she provided macroeconomic analysis for multi-asset investors as a senior macro investment strategist since 2021.

Prior to BlackRock, Cooper spent two years as a macro strategist for Bloomberg and almost eight years as an economist at RBC.

Amati Global Investors

The firm has hired Gregor Paterson as an analyst for its UK small cap team.

Paterson spent the last three years at Zeus Capital, and previously was with Cenkos and Cantor Fitzgerald. He holds a total of 25 years of experience in UK capital markets.

Paterson will be working primarily with the Amati AIM VCT, alongside CEO Paul Jourdan and David Stevenson.
