UK investment firm chief executive steps down, as private bank makes c-suite change

The UK chief executive and head of Emea client group Jamie Hammond is leaving the firm at the end of the month, our sister publication Portfolio Adviser has learned.

Hammond will depart at the end of February after five years “to pursue new opportunities”.

Before joining AB in January 2016, Hammond spent 15 years at Franklin Templeton where he was managing director of Europe, heading its retail and institutional business across the region.

AB chief administrative officer (UK) Ian Foster has been named acting chief executive and Onur Erzan, head of global client group, will oversee Emea distribution while a permanent replacement for Hammond is found.

EFG International

The financial services group has named Enrico Piotto as chief risk officer, effective 1 June 2021.

Piotto previously served as head of lending for wealth management Europe at Deutsche Bank.

SimplyBiz

The adviser support service business has hired David Thompson as chief financial officer, effective from 1 April 2021.

Thompson was chief financial officer of Smart Metering Systems (SMS).

SimplyBiz also announced that after five years with the company, Gareth Hague, the group finance director, will be leaving the company by mutual agreement, effective 31 March 2021.

Capital Group

The investment firm has named Marta Zarraga as global chief information officer overseeing technology and cyber security.

Zarraga previously served as global chief information officer for Aviva.

Invesco

Gwendolyn Ansah Smith has been named managing director of Africa.

She previously served as managing director of global institutional.
