Investment platform names head of policy, Julius Baer wealth subsidiary hires CEO

AJ Bell

Gareth James has been appointed to the newly created role of head of policy at the investment platform.

In the role, he will lead AJ Bell’s public policy strategy, with a focus on government policy and regulatory developments around pensions, taxation and investment platforms, and will also be responsible for co-ordinating AJ Bell’s work with industry bodies and wider policy groups.

James was previously head of technical at AJ Bell and starts his new role with immediate effect.

Kairos

The asset management and wealth management subsidiary of Julius Baer has named Alberto Castelli as chief executive of Kairos Partners and Kairos Investment Management. starting on 1 January 2021.

Castelli succeeds Fabrizio Rindi, who became interim chief executive in September 2019.

He joins the Kairos Group from Poste Italiane Group’s BancoPosta Fondi Sgr, where he was chief executive.

Brown Shipley

The subsidiary of Quintet Private Bank has appointed Gordon Scott as head of strategic partnerships and entrepreneurs network.

He joins from Julius Baer International, where he was executive director and head of UK regions.

Ashburton Investments

The asset management arm of FirstRand Group has promoted James Cooke to head of global equities at Ashburton Investments (International).

Based in Jersey, Cooke heads up Ashburton Investments global equity team – located in offices in the Channel Islands, the UK and South Africa.

He has over 15 years’ experience in investment management and has been with Ashburton since 2019, when he joined as head of equity research.

Blackfinch Group

The independent investment specialist has expanded its distribution team with hiring of Cath Faulds as adaptations partnership sales manager

She spent the last five years working as director of distribution partnership at SimplyBiz.

Nikko Asset Management

Tony Glover takes on the additional role of global head of consultant relations.

He joined Nikko AM on 1 March 2020 as global head of intermediaries and head of international intermediary sales department.

Glover remains in that position, and will continue to be based in Tokyo.

Tilney Smith & Williamson

The wealth firm has hired Lisa Anderson to join the team in Exeter as a chartered financial planner.

She joins Tilney from Quilter Private Client Advisers, where she worked alongside investment management division Quilter Cheviot.
