PEOPLE MOVES: AIA, IQ-EQ, Zurich

Insurer names CEO of Singapore advice arm, while financial services firm hires head of private wealth UK

AIA Singapore

Damien Tan has been named as chief executive of AIA Financial Advisers, with effect from 1 September 2021.

He joined AIA Singapore in 1996, where he spent more than a decade and took on the role as head of agency management support in 2010.

Most recently, Tan was head of tied distribution strategy.

Tan succeeds Delon Choo, who is set to lead as chief agency officer of AIA Singapore.

IQ-EQ

The financial services firm has named Alex Dean as head of private wealth UK.

Prior to joining IQ-EQ, Dean was director at EFG Private Bank in London.

Zurich

Caroline Dunn has been hired as chief underwriting officer in the UK.

She will join the Zurich team in November from Lloyd’s, where she headed up various divisions such as market development and underwriting.

This follows Hayley Robinson’s recent promotion to the role of chief group underwriting officer at Zurich Insurance Group.

HSBC Private Banking

The private bank has appointed François Essertel as market head Europe international.

This is in addition to his current responsibilities as head of private banking France.

He joined HSBC Continental Europe in 2014 to lead HSBC’s Private Banking business in France.

Bank of Singapore

The banking group has hired Vivienne Chia as global head of investment advisory solutions. She will be based in Singapore.

Chia was most recently the head of structured products origination and product management Apac at UBS Investment Bank based in Singapore.

She replaces Fidelis Oruche who has held the role since 2013 and will take on a newly created role as global head of alternative investments and managed solutions.

Carrick Wealth

The South African wealth manager has appointed Craig Holmes as regional manager of its operation in Port Elizabeth, according to Linkedin.

It has also hired Emile Hugo as a private wealth manager in its Cape Town office.

ProMeritum Investment Management

The emerging markets fixed income manager has named Arnaud Beernaert as its head of investor relations and business development.

Beernaert was previously head of business development for Gladwyne Investments.

Indosuez Wealth Management

The global wealth management arm of Credit Agricole has appointed Ian Koo as head of asset management for the bank’s Hong Kong branch.

He previously served as the head of portfolio management at Bank of New York Mellon (Hong Kong).

Apollo Multi Asset Management

The UK-based investment manager has named Joanne Baynham as an investment strategist.

She was the founder, investment strategist and portfolio manager at MitonOptimal, where she worked for over 20 years.

Deutsche Bank Wealth Management

The wealth manager has bolstered its operation in southeast Asia.

Divik Maheshwari as director, senior FX adviser and team lead of SEA FX advisory for southeast Asia.

Prior to this, he was with Credit Suisse advising ultra-high net worth clients in private banking and advising Institutional clients in global markets.

UBS Global Wealth Management

Nicola Pantone and Rodolphe Larqué will succeed Conrad Huber as co-heads of capital markets in Apac.

Pantone joins from HSBC, where he was head of wealth sales for Apac, running a cross-asset, multi-product salesforce since 2016.

Larqué joins from Credit Suisse Private Banking, Apac, where he was head of managed solutions in the region and head of products for Singapore.

Both will start in October 2021.

Meanwhile, Conrad Huber has taken on the role of business sector head for greater China, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan and international.

Saracen Fund Managers

The Edinburgh-based asset manager backed by AssetCo has appointed Alasdair Birch as investment director on its global and UK equity strategies.

Before joining Saracen, Birch was a deputy fund manager and investment analyst at SVM Asset Management.

PraxisIFM Group

The financial services firm has named Iain Torrens as chairman and a non-executive director.

He will be based in the UK, where he will retain his role as chief executive of Faro Capital, an investment firm focused on the ownership and transformation of UK real estate and corporate assets.

Rize ETF

The Asset Co-backed investment firm has hired Florian Berberich as associate director of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

He joins from Bloomberg, where he was a financial products sales and account manager for DACH region.

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI)

Vanessa Doyle has been named as president of the trade body’s Liverpool branch.

She is currently an investment administrator at Stellar Asset Management.

Doyle replaces former president Louise McEveley.

Mayfair Capital Investment Management

The specialist UK real estate investment manager has hired Christi Vosloo as head of ESG UK.

Prior to joining Mayfair Capital, Vosloo was an associate director at Jones Lang LaSalle in London, where she advised clients on the development and implementation of ESG strategies.
