abrdn

The firm has appointed Xavier Meyer as CEO of investments, while Rene Buehlmann leaves the company.

The change follows Jason Windsor’s appointment as group CEO in September, and £3.1bn in net outflows announced in arbdn’s Q3 results this October. The results caused shares in the company to drop 19.5% in the past month to 19 November.

abrdn has also created a group operating committee compromised of the CEO, COO, CFO and the business unit CEOs, aimed at speeding up decision making.

The executive leadership team has been revamped to include the investments CEO as well as senior client and product positions, with a focus on strategy execution, the risk environment, and then “talent and culture agenda”.

Pimfa

The organisation has appointed Andy McGlone, chief executive of Quilter Cheviot, and Charley Davies, general counsel at Evelyn Partners, to its board of directors beginning this November.

McGlone became chief executive of Quilter Cheviot in 2019, and of Quilter Cheviot financial planning in 2022 when the businesses merged. He brings over 20 years of experience to the role and also serves on the Quilter Cheviot board and chairs the executive committee.

Davies joined Evelyn Partners in 2022 and has over 28 years of experience in the financial services sector. Before Evelyn Partners, she held roles at companies including Provident Financial Group and Cabot Credit Management.

Rathbones Asset Management

The firm has hired RBC Capital Markets’s Emma Letheren as an equity research analyst for its multi-asset team.

In her new role, Letheren will report to multi-asset fund manager Will McIntosh-Whyte and head of multi-asset investing David Coombs. The hire follows the addition of fixed income analyst Sally Hoang to the team earlier this year.

Before joining Rathbones, Letheren spent over seven years at RBC Capital Markets, with a focus on equity research in European consumer staples. She was also an officer of RWomen, advocating for gender equality in the workplace.

AXA Investment Management

Ouajnat Karim will become the new UK CEO on 11 December, taking the reins from current CEO Marcello Arona, who is leaving after leading the firm since 2021.

Karim has worked in various roles at AXA since 2007 and became its COO and global head of oversight earlier this year.

She will retain some of her responsibilities in these roles in addition to that of CEO and will now report in to AXA’s CFO and general secretary Jean-Chistophe Menioux, and COO and global head of transversal services Geoffroy Reiss.

Neuberger Berman

The asset manager has hired Paul Grainger as managing director and a senior portfolio manager within its fixed income team.

With 25 years in the industry, Grainger’s most recent role came at Schroders, where he was head of global fixed income and currency before departing in 2023.

Neuberger Berman’s global bond team manages $232bn (£183.1bn) of the firm’s $509bn total assets under management.

Jupiter

European equity team Niall Gallagher, Chris Sellers and Chris Legg from GAM Investments have decided to join Jupiter by the summer of 2025.

The trio currently manages near £1.4bn in assets across European strategies for GAM.

Jupiter said the trio is expected to take over the existing European equity fund range at Jupiter “absent any further engagement with GAM in relation to the potential transfer of the funds currently managed by the European equity team”.
