Investment giant hires head of financial planning, while advice tech provider names Europe CCO

Abrdn

The UK investment firm has hired Sarah Deaves as head of financial planning.

She joins from Schroders Personal Wealth, where she was managing director for client relationships and wealth advice.

Ignition Advice

The global provider of advice technology has named Eric Welsby as chief commercial officer for Europe.

He was previously global head of product and strategy at Bravura Solutions.

Welsby will be responsible for the commercial strategy through marketing, sales, product development and client services to drive growth.

IQ-EQ

Frédérik Benoit has taken on the role of global head of transformation at the financial services provider.

He used to work at Standard Chartered Bank as managing director, global head of fiduciary and fund services, operations and financial markets.

Newton Investment Management

The BNY Mellon IM subsidiary has made three senior hires.

Mitesh Sheth will become chief investment officer of Newton’s multi-asset business, effective 1 March 2022.  He was previously chief executive of Redington.

David Cumming and Georgina Cooper join the firm’s UK equity team in March and February 2022, respectively.

Cummings joins from Aviva Investors where he served as chief investment officer of equities; while Cooper was previously at Abrdn as a UK equities portfolio manager.

Ocorian

The global provider of fund and private client services has bolstered its global funds team with a senior hire.

Mary Bruen has become regional head of fund services for the firm’s Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man offices.

She joins from Link Asset Services where she worked at for over seven years, most recently as a director.

The Openwork Partnership

Rob Askham has taken on the role of propositions director at the financial advice network.

He joins from Santander Asset Management, where he was commercial director.

Askham will be responsible for developing and delivering products and services, marketing and the advice and sales process.

Objectway

Karl Im Brahm has been appointed as chief executive of Die Software.

Objectway acquired Die Software in August 2021, and Im Brahm will oversee the expansion in the Dach region.

He previously worked at Avaloq Group, where he was responsible for the firm’s activities in the German market.

Allspring Global Investment

The independent asset manager has hired Andy Sowerby as head of client group Apac ex-Japan.

He will lead business development across the region and find ways to serve both existing and prospective clients.

Sowerby was previously at Legg Mason where he was head of Asia Pacific and chief executive of Australia and New Zealand operations.

Tilney Smith & Williamson

Richard Stanwell has joined the wealth management group as investment director.

He used to work at EFG Private Bank, where he was a senior director since 2018.

Pacific Asset Management

The asset management firm has named Tim Eyles as chairman.

He was previously chair and managing partner at Taylor Wessing between 2009 and 2018.
