Aberdeen Standard Investments
Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) has promoted Richard Pereira to the newly created role of head of global insurance asset management, he was previously an investment director in global insurance solutions.
He will be responsible for insurance asset management oversight of Phoenix Group’s assets managed by the firm, which have risen to circa £158bn ($208bn, €178bn) following completion of the acquisition of Standard Life Assurance
ASI is a strategic partner of Phoenix Group.
Based in London, he will continue to report to Stephen Acheson, global head of insurance, Aberdeen Standard Investments.
Investment Assocation
The Investment Association (IA), the trade body that represents UK asset managers, has appointed four new directors to its board.
Joining with immediate effect are:
- Caroline Connellan, chief executive – Brooks Macdonald Group
- Michelle Scrimgeour, chief executive, Emea – Columbia Threadneedle Investments
- Hanneke Smits, chief executive – Newton Investment Management
- Dan Watkins, chief operating officer, Emea – JP Morgan Asset Management
These new appointments replace four retiring board members:
Paul Feeney, Quilter; Andrew Formica, Janus Henderson; Andrew Laing, Aberdeen Standard Investments; and Mark Zinkula, Legal & General Investment Management.
Efama
The European Fund and Asset Management Association (Efama) has named Tanguy van de Werve as its director general. Van de Werve will take up his position on 1 January 2019.
In a career spanning 25 years, van de Werve has lead and managed advocacy campaigns for several high-profile industry bodies.
Prior to joining Efama, he spent three years as a managing director and head of the Brussels office for the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) – the trade association representing the banks most active in Europe’s wholesale capital markets.
Previously, he spent just under 10 years as director general of Eurofinas and Leaseurope – the trade bodies representing the specialised European consumer credit providers and the European leasing industries respectively.
Stonehage Fleming
Multi-family office Stonehage Fleming has moved Richard Bertin from wealth planning to a newly created role in business development.
In the new role he will report into Hamish Sinclair, head of group business development.
Bertin’s client relationships have been transferred to other team members.
