Seven Investment Management

Senior investment manager Peter Sleep is set to exit the firm in April after 17 years.

Sleep was a manager on 7IM’s asset allocated passive (AAP) range at its inception in 2008, while he is also lead manager on the wealth manager’s discretionary fund management (DFM) passive range.

A 7IM spokesperson said they are currently recruiting for a replacement.

Before joining the firm in 2007, Sleep spent two years in an analyst role at MF Global and had a 13-year spell at Citi Group, where he held analyst and portfolio management roles.

In January, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board completed its purchase of a majority stake in 7IM from Caledonia Investments.

GSB Capital

The firm has hired Michelle Devine as a director of GSB Capital UK, based in London.

The hire brings the number of team members of the UK operation to seven.

Devine has over 15 years of experience, predominantly in M&A. She has worked for firms including J.P. Morgan and Grant Thornton UK.

Ross Whatnall, co-founder and chief executive, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Michelle Devine to our team. Her wealth of experience and proven track record in corporate advisory will undoubtedly bolster our capabilities and drive our firm to new heights. Michelle’s arrival is the start of a flurry of new arrivals for the UK operation as we continue to expand the business outside of the UAE.”

Artemis

A quartet of Artemis fund managers have exited the firm.

Craig Bonthron, Neil Goddin, Jonathan Parsons and Ryan Smith all joined in 2020 from Aegon Asset Management – then known as Kames Capital.

The quartet were hired in 2020 to launch the firm’s Positive Future impact equity strategy.

Latitude Investment Management

Chief operations officer James Foster has been appointed to the board of the Independent Investment Management Initiative (IIMI).

The organisation is a member-led thinktank made up of 43 boutique investment firms. Its goals are to shape regulation that supports boutiques, promote their strengths, and drive good practises.

Foster has worked with IIMI for a number of years as a member and will now become a key decision maker of the collective.

She joins the firm from Point 72 Asset Management where she was a healthcare research analyst.
