The wealth manager has bolstered its investment management team with the hires of Asim Qadri and Brian Leitao.

The duo join as investment managers, and will report into Uwe Ketelsen, head of portfolio management. They will focus on enhancing and deepening 7IM’s fund selection and portfolio management capabilities. 

With a decade of experience in the sector, Qadri spent the last three years in Abrdn’s multi-asset team, where he was responsible for investment manager research and portfolio construction across various asset classes.

Leitao has eight years of investment experience gathered at Fundhouse, EQ Investors, Morningstar and most recently, Mercer.

EQ Investors

The firm has named LGT Wealth Management’s Matt Wiles as head of fund research.

Wiles, who will take up the role in late October, has over 20 years’ experience in investment management across fund research analysis and portfolio management.

At LGT, he led the firm’s sustainable fund research, having previously worked at Abrdn focusing on the MyFolio Sustainable fund range.

Legal & General

The company has hired Eric Adler as chief executive officer of its asset management arm, following proposed plans to unify its private and public market businesses.

Adler will join the firm from PGIM, where he is president and CEO of its private alternatives business, which operates across private equity, private credit, real estate and infrastructure. The business arm currently has $320bn under management.

In his new role, Adler will aim to increase Legal & General’s asset management operating profits to £500-600m by 2028, and grow its private markets platform by 63.5% from £52bn to £85bn.

HSBC Asset Management

The firm has appointed Pierin Menzli as global CIO of equity, moving from his current role of CIO for thematic equities.

Menzli will oversee the active equity platform in his new position, which manages near $30bn. Reporting to global CIO Xavier Baraton, he will place a specific emphasis on emerging markets and Asia, as well as growing thematic offerings.

Since February this year, Menzli has served as acting global CIO of equity.

M&G

The firm has appointed Joe Sullivan-Bissett, current lead investment specialist on M&G’s Global Macro strategies and sterling credit funds, as investment director of fixed income.

Sullivan-Bissett joined M&G in July from Amundi, where he was an investment specialist for the global fixed income team starting in 2023. Previously, he spent over nine years with Insight Investment.

Seilern IM

Eponymous founder Peter Seilern will retire as chair and CIO at the end of 2024 after a career spanning over 50 years.

He founded Seilern in 1989 as a quality growth-focused fund house.

Tassilo Seilern will succeed Peter Seilern as executive chair at the end of the year, while portfolio manager Corentin Massin has been promoted to chief investment officer.

AVI

Asset Value Investors has hired Nicola Takada Wood as its new head of Japan as the firm puts more resources into developing its Japanese engagement strategy.

Wood will be crucial in improving the capabilities of its flagship AVI Japan Opportunity trust, which was up 28.4% amid the rally of the past two years by investing exclusively in smaller companies.

She will also be responsible for the newly-launched AVI Japanese Special Situations, which the firm created in April this year as it bolstered its exposure to the rallying market.

Candriam

Nicolas Jullien will succeed Philippe Noyard as global head of fixed income as Noyard completes a 35-year career at the firm.

Noyard joined Candriam in 1989, previously holding the position of portfolio manager for Neuflize Schlumberger Mallet.

Jullien will take over following Noyard’s retirement in January 2025, bringing 17 years of experience at Candriam. He is currently the head of high yield and credit arbitrage, with the high yield platform now managing over €8bn in assets.
